Hello and thank you for making this awesome game!

I wonder, is a "sandbox" mode planned with gameplay a bit more like.. lets say Hearts of Iron series? (but on the oceans, obviously)

I would want a campaign that would be seemingsly endless, with many years of gameplay.
It would have optional time limits and mission goals, where you can set a goal to achieve, or none at all if you wish that.
You would be able to control a specific nations (or maybe entire NATO/Russian Federation) navy and work together with AI controlled allies.

You would have naval bases & the ability to lay down ships for production aswell as planes (and maybe order other ship classes/planes on license from allies) & some sort of economy. (National Naval/Airforce budgets perhaps?)

I do not know if this is even possible in the engine, and iam sure it would require alot of work from the dev team but i think a mode like this would have almost endless re-playability value and add alot to the game.
So, in short.. my question is a game mode simlar to this planned? or is it even possible in the engine? if its not planned but possible how much work would it take a mod team to accomplish this?

Thanks for reading, Skjold.

Hi Skjold,

Adding a "grand strategy" part with resource management is obviously a massive expansion of our game. Maybe Naval War II will move in that direction; but now we're way ahead of ourselves :)

But it would be cool!

(PS: We have a suggestions subforum, too)

@JanH

Thanks for replying, maybe as a DLC.. maybe? (a man can dream) :)

Edit: Yes i know theres a suggestions forum, it keeps bugging me out though.. saying i dont have access 1 second then the next second i have etc etc..

I completely disagree. This is not and should not be a grand strategy game(There are so many out there). Do what you are good at, but you could add the points system as discussed somwhere else.

Whereas I agree that a grand strategy game is outside the scope of this game and not relevant to modern warfare which lasts weeks or months not years, I would love to see a long campaign with various dynamic missions that continue with the same units in the same locations and the same damage states etc. I would love to see resupply added to the game and backup bases where you could keep units for use to replace losses etc. But of course then we might be also talking about amphibious landings etc being possible to take bases/targets in order to be able to win a war through land based occupation. A lot to consider for the future maybe.

Firstly though perhaps some longer missions with in mission saving/editor/mission generator would go a long way. Modders could do a lot with this game I feel.

This.

While I understand the thought behind trying to set up balanced scenarios I think there'd be a lot of value in being able to setup the two opposing forces so you can test the limits and capabilities of your favorite units against a range of threats.
