to all that have been helping me so far...thanks...

so, i enjoy a hard economic game, so i made everything that costs money go up to 200%....I have only been playing for about 4 hrs now...i started my first game and was able to make 4 tram lines and 3 bus lines....i am not down to 10,000$...and losing money..so i am now forced to decide what lines to close and such...this is the game that i like...so the question is...do any of you have recommendations for settings for me?

2. If I want to see what lines are making money and what lines are not...is there an easier way other then opening up each and every line in its own window?

3. i used to worry about how full my vehicles where, now i believe i have to worry more about the customers happiness with the time and not if the vehicle is half empty...is this correct?

4 is there away to see how full the vehicles are on average?
5. is there away to see what time i am making money vs losing money...ie should i cancel the 1500 route because no one rides it at that time?
6. what is the penalty for having a terminal that cant fit all the vehicles? do they not get serviced that night for maint?

i guess thats it for now....thanks...

slo

ps..what is a more realistic price structure for the cost of vehicles??? i find it funny that i can buy a bus for 1,000 but i dont want to unbalance the game...i just feel it should be a much bigger investment to build a metro then it is...

1. Are your lines connected? This is a must have, otherwise you will never make money.

2. Sadly no ;(

3. In the beginningphase you should not worry to much about the costumer happines, although it is a good indicator, where so can make money: If more than 1/3 of stops from a line has angry costumers, you should think about a higher rate your vehicles leave the depot.

4. You can see the passanger count for each vehicle from the actual day, but no average.

5. If you watch over some days, you will see, when the costumer want to drive. Usually this time is in the morning (8-10) and in the afternoon (16-19). But for me, the most people drive in the afternoon/evening, but I´m playing with slower time (normally on 40%), so the AI is a bit messed up for me, I think. And you should always remember, that one new line can have a huge impact on all your lines, you have to check them once in a while!

6. You can maintain more vehicle than the nummer over the depot suggests, but if is it full, arriving vehicles will wait in front of it. This often causes traffic jams, especially at night.

"PS". The investment from a metro lays in the rails. In the beginning, it can be hard to build a line longer than 4 stops, but if you have one, you are officially rich :D
But for me the fun only starts, then your problem is not, how much money it will cost, only if it fits in the city and won´t mess up the AI ;)

Greetings from Germany!

My PS: I´m glad, you give it a try and if you have more questions, don´t hesitate. And somehow I want to see your first steps, so if you could upload your save... :p

I don't know what settings are best for making the economic harder, but I think that adjusting the energy consumption gives more a challenge than the price of the vehicles and infrastructure. The reason is that infrastructure in the start are very expensive, but when you have good coverage, the infrastructure isn't that difficult to afford. If that made any sense.:)
