1. No. There are no "history files" like in EU3. Instead, everything is in the scenario files (the .eug and .inc files in the Scenarios folder, and any files they reference). A scenario may start whenever you like, though, so you could make your own scenario to start on whatever date you want.

2. Not sure exactly what you're asking; why can't you just copy it into a different directory?

with the unlimited time patch you can start when you want :)

I mean how can you modify your vanilla map files, so that when you uninstall a map mod, the original map isn't messed up.
