The problem with the Munich event chain is so serious (there seems to be a lot of work in it) that I thought it deserved ist own thread. My apologies if this has already been posted before somewhere else.
If my observation is correct the reason why the Munich conference doesn't trigger as intended is that the Mussolini conference call (ITA event 460004) and the UK Godesberg event 820087 that is required as trigger have the same triggerdate. And it seems that the HOI engine evaluates the ITA event first (lower id), thus Mussolini never calls the conference...
I simply set the date of the ITA event to September 23 (from 22 previously) and I could watch the full event chain in full glory (thanks CORE-team for your great work) and as Germany I had the Sudetenland by mid-October. I don't know if this causes other problems - maybe in 39, I havent played further yet - but since it seems to be a simple solution I wanted to post it first.

Thanks again to the CORE developers for bringing a great game closer to perfection.

I tried this and it seems to work fine. The events seemed to fire properly and I continued playing until october 1939 and everything has worked fine as far as I can see.

Thanks asakura!

Yep, I can confirm that this is the problem with the Munich chain.

Remember that editing the files yourselves may cause problems down the road since we're using MSI-installers (which handle file versions in specific ways). I don't want to get too technical, so suffice to say that when we release the next version I suggest you do an uninstall of the previous version and delete the mod-CORE2 folder before installing the new one. Otherwise files may not be overwritten correctly and we cannot possible rely on bug reports, or help you out with issues that arise.

So what are we supposed to do in the meantime?

The Munich-events are kind of essential for the player (and about 90% of us play as Germany).

I see three options:

1. edit the event file manually as Asakura suggested
2. fire the event via f12 (would that cause problems?). I think this should be the easiest and safest way.
3. wait until the next Core-release which could take between 1 week and 1 year.

Hope we get a solution for the problem asap. Combined with the bugged Anschluß-event, playing as Germany seems kind of pointless so far.
Can we expect a hotfix any time soon?

I'd say closer to one week than one year at least... :) I believe most of these "critical" things are solved, or are close to being solved so a hotfix/new version hopefully won't be long.

What's wrong with the Anschluss? High partisan rate afterwards? That's been fixed too.

EDIT: Triggering the event manually via F12 shouldn't be a problem, but I haven't tested it myself. Just type:
event 460004 ITA
and you should be good to go ("event" is the F12 command to trigger an event, isn't it?), if I'm judging this correctly (which isn't a guarantee, btw).

seattle

As I see it these problems seem easy to fix on one's own.

Fix the Münich-event as per asakura's proposal. Then edit the savegame manually and add the provinces of Austria to Germany's cores before the Anschluss. Wouldn't that work just fine until a possible hotfix is made?

I see this CORE-release as more or less a beta version and had expected more than a few bugs. Then again I did buy EU II, HOI, Victoria, CK and HOI2 as soon as they were released so perhaps I'm jaded by that... :D No I'm just kidding, but seriously these particular bugs seem quite easy to fix on one's own until they're fixed in an "official" hotfix.

Just my thoughts.

That's why I have problems with Asakura's proposal.

@baylox
Haven't come to the Anschluß-event yet (restarted as SU to get used to the new features). The prob with the cores is just something I read about in this forum.

What do you mean by "has been fixed already"? I assume it means in the next version which wouldn't help right now.

F12, type: event x
That is the proper command, I don't think that adding "ITA" does anything.
There can only be one event with the number "460004" which is why there is no need to add the country which the event effects.
I am not 100 % sure on this one but pretty close to that.

I also see the first Core-release as a beta-version. Don't mean to be bitching about lack of perfection. Hope nobody had that impression.

Doesn't hurt to uninstall-->reinstall when the next version of CORE comes out, especially if, like me, you like to play with games as much as play them.

Steve.

Ah, I'd missed that bit seattle. Thank's for pointing it out. :)

My words on "beta" etc were not directed at anyone in particular, just my own half-confused thoughts. :D

How exactly do you go about doing this? I don't know which file to open or how to change the trigger date.

Please Include instructions on how to do this so I can get the Munich Treaty Conf to fire.

open the file core_Italy.txt in \Hearts of Iron 2\mod-CORE2\db\events\gameplay

search for event 460004 -> change "date = { day = 22 month = september year = 1938 }" to "date = { day = 23 month = september year = 1938 }"

Hey, you're absolutely right about this! I, too, play with HOI II... sometimes it seems more than actually playing it! :D

Either way, it sure is fun!

Thanks for all the replies - as you might have noticed this was my first post :cool:

I continued the game through the war and the Czecoslovakia events worked fine - as others have already noted. The only thing I noted was that unlike in vanilla Hungary doesn't get the Eastern province of Presov (or something like that) in the Partition. Is this due to an event choice or possibly a result of the date change?
Anyway, it seems to work for us who are impatient to see the full event chain. For those who are more careful/anxious about editing the files and are worried about the next version installing properly I suggest the method of triggering the event manually via F12 that seattle and baylox have proposed.

And yes: What's so great about Paradox games is that you can play around (and eventually mess up :D ) the event files etc.

OK finally figured it out.

I messed around with a test game with germany, delcared war on Rep Spain, in May 37 France DOW and over ran me :p

I'm a shame to the german cause, well do better this time after I fix the date.

This is actually fixed for next release too - there was an error in the event that prevented the Presov thing from happening. :)

Also, another issue with End of Czechoslovakia with the "demand all" choice has been corrected.

I´ve changed the munich event. But after it fired i saw that the austrian provinces aren´t core provinces(i´m playing germany by the way). Can anyone tell me how to change it in the save file? I´ve already changed it so that they´re core when i start a new game, but i don´t want to have to start a new game!

If CZE refuses there should be an event that gives Germany the option to attack. I haven't seen CZE do that yet - maybe there are problems with that event too.
I will watch that if I come across a fighting Czechoslovakia.

The Munich conference events do not deal with Austria.
To edit your savegame you open the according savegame.eug file in your ....\Hearts of Iron 2\mod-CORE2\scenarios\save games folder. There you search for the Germany block that begins with
country = {
tag = GER
Within that block you then search for the line that looks something like
nationalprovinces = { 66 67 74 75 76 80 81 82 83 84 85 86 87 88 89 90 296 297 298 299 300 301 302 304 308 309 310 311 312 313 314 315 374 375 376 473 482 510 72 73 316 71 373 377 462 461 460 465 464 463 467 466 471 472 474 470 468 469 475 206 307 306 305 303 }
where you can add the provinceids you like.

There is also an easy way to fix this from ingame. If the Anschluss already worked correctly you could manually trigger event 370071 from the console. That event would normally put you at war with Austria - but since there is no Austria around anymore you will only have the other choice that gives you the core provinces. Use at your own risk (I don't think that there are follow up events for other nations but I'm not sure about that)!

Edit: For those looking for the method of fixing the Anschluss event there is a complete explanation by azkor in this thread .

Thanks for the advice asakura!
