Went in and tested a bunch on germany and The speed bonus does not apply to anything from what I can tell. No tanks, mech etc. got any speed bonus from them at all When you have No Step Back enabled.

It doesnt apply at the Desinger Level, or the Units deployed When you have No Step Back enabled.

If you disable No Step Back and research Tank Techs with it on the Tanks to get the 10% speed attached to the Tank directly.

When you research Mech with it enabled it still the base 8 km/hr so no it does not apply to mech.

Thanks for confirming. I'd say another bug report might be worth it, no?

A displayed bonus applying to nothing is IMO always a bug - either a gameplay one (if the devs intention is to hand out a bonus) or "at best" an UI one only (in case an older bonus gets superfluos by the game being reworked), because then the text about the bonus should be removed as well. So a report would be welcome - consider my upvote being in the pipeline :)

Well, I'll be damned... Tested with the console: it works with Tanks, although it's nowhere to be confirmed (info bullet, modifier).
Initially checked with one specific unit, moving: gives inconsistent results, due to terrain and so on.
But looking at tanks individual stats and template reference stats:

No theorist: max speed 5 kph

With MBW theorist: max speed 5.4 kph (~+10%)

So, it works for Tanks, but it doesn't for Motorized/Mechanized.

If you'd like the dev to add a reminder that Tanks speed gets modified: please upvote the bug report or the suggestion below

The doctrine does not refer to the same thing depite the same name, @HmJ_JP's concern is right here. Technologies (including doctrines) can provide a few different types of things, indicated by the sub-headings in the technology window. Those under "Upgrades" are stat modifiers to battalions or whole categories of battalions (which are shown in the tooltip of the icon).

Blitzkrieg theorist is a trait of an idea, which provide a different set of possible benefits. In this case, it is an equipment modifier, very much like the ones from equipment designers (which are also ideas). The difference is that Blitzkrieg's bonus is instant, i.e. it does not get attached to equipment of the indicated type when it is researched later, but instantly on all such equipment.

So with above in mind, Blitzkrieg theorist's bonus applies to the same things a generic tank designer would apply to: equipment with the type armor. That is not exposed anywhere in the UI as far as I'm aware. You can see the types of equipments in common/units/equipment/. As far as I can tell that type includes all tank chassis and nothing else.

Thanks. It all makes sense, but just that the HOI4 definition of mechanized (armored personnel carrier) can be misleading:

Why does the mountain infantry focus of Nationalist China not reliably unlock the 7/2 template when completed? It happened once, but not in other playthroughs. Also, generals get more XP than Field Marshals, right? I need to see how to get to the Sun Tzu achievement.

Get your preferred general to level 9, then promote to field marshal.

Still painful, but somewhat less so.

Correct. Any CP I can't use is going to generals promotions/upgrades, even if I have no intention to use them as FM. Useful to offset negative traits (e.g charismatic leader against harsh leader). And I don't see any reduction in earning XP: by 1949 I usually get several of these promoted generals up to lvl 7-9.
 
Question about Field Marshals promotion: I understand that a general promoted to FM will only give 50% of his general traits to the armies he's assigned, as a FM.
But if we just assign this promoted FM to an army as a standard general: will he still suffer from the 50% penalty regarding his general traits?

My understanding is that field marshals commanding individual armies will use their general traits at full effect, but their field marshal traits* not at all.

*There may be an exception for traits which increase skill points, like "Offensive Doctrine" adding +1 attack. AFAIK the attack value is not reduced for an offensive doctrine field marshal in a general's job.

Basically they won't get the core benefit of a FM trait, but if there are other benefits they will.

If some mod gives an officer +1 defense on top of the normal bonuses from defensive doctrine trait, you'll still get the +1 in the general slot.

If it's anything related to tactics chance it actually only applies in the general slot though.

How do I launch several 1-division invasions from the same army? A little while ago I managed to send 5 1-division invasions to 5 different locations in 2 sea zones. The army commanders got a separate planning entry for each, each for 7 days, and all executed at that time. I am not sure exactly how I did it; I thought I did it by selecting 1 division at a time and giving it an invasion order. But now I cannot replicate this; every time I try to add an invasion mission for another division the previous cancels. Can anyone explain?

Sort of related: So far I have not found any means of cancelling or re-directing a port-to-port sea transport once ordered--even though no time has passed and nothing has moved.

Maybe I didn't get you correctly. When you have your divisions grouped into one army, you can click the whol;e army to assign battleplan / naval landing... orders. But you can as well just pick individual (or several if you use SHIFT key) divisions and assign them separate orders.

The point is: if you already assigned to the army as a whole one order, you get to remove your division from that order before assigning a specific one.

You, probably, just click on an existing order, which starts to edit it instead of creating a new one - kind of wonky: I still do it myself nearly 5% of the time. Generally, it works exactly as you describe; I prefer to set up all orders then assign divisions, though.

Tried "H"? As for redirection: it works exactly the same as your move order (provided divisions actually at sea); except with naval transfers you always have to click port.
