Is there a way to invert the tilt direction when I hold down the mouse wheel? Am I the only person who feels the way it works isn't intuitive?? It's driving me crazy! Can't believe none of the early access content creators didn't mention this. In CS1 it worked the way that was natural to me. CS2 is backwards for me and I don't see an option to change it.

Currently there is in my opinion to high demand for low density residential buildings, so im interested is it intentional or will it be balanced ?
I think this will re-balance itself a bit as you progress and get more educated people.
There is a lot of suburban sprawl at first, but I noticed that demand for medium density went up quite a bit after I passed the 10k pop mark. Also all the low density buildings ended up with much smaller lots (I'd assume due to land value?), so even the low density areas seem to have slightly higher pop density now.

Anyone else have the issue that if you terraform something that used to be water to land then tried to put a road there the game will still think it’s water?

I started in Tampere, it's nice.
Does anyone else see the rain sideways and that does not seem to wet the street or buildings?
If it is not rain, what is it?

Edit.- It is "hail storm". I just read it at events.

Slightly odd question - is there a way to tell the game NOT to build on a road that otherwise has tiles zoned next to it?
For example: I want to build a small downtown with an alley behind the businesses. With precise grid snaps, the alleyway fits perfectly into the grid. The game seems to pick the alleyway 50% of the time when deciding which way the buildings face.

I've tried waiting until the zone develops and then putting the road in - in that case, sometimes at random one of the buildings will get demolished and rebuilt the wrong way, creating the whole mess again.

Just curious if there's a way to toggle this that I missed somewhere.

Best map to start with?
I'd say Barrier Island is good to get the basics. Starting on an island means your expansion is directed, so you won't sprawl aimlessly. There is also a bit of rough terrain further out on the island where you can learn about landscaping. Once the island is full you can start building on the mainland and establish a new city with all the lessons you have learned.

No direct tool from what I understand. Either add the road later or use a pavement path as a temporary solution (they don't allow zoning, so the game can't build towards them. Or just leave a one-tile gap at the sides until the other buildings are done (works best with row housing zoning).

Hi, I would be very grateful if someone could help me understand two things.

1. The videos promoting the game showed a tool that allows you to modify an already built road. Player can slightly shift or bend it. This needs to be unlocked? Or I just can't find it? Or maybe it has been removed from the final version?

2. Does anyone know how the areas for specialized production buildings work? I have the impression that the size of the assigned area does not affect the amount of production. I made a huge one for the hen house, then I reduced it drastically and didn't notice any changes in production chart.

Thank you in advance for any tips on how it works.

I'm having a lot of issues with flooding in the Tampere map, and no way to get rid of the water. The first rainy month the ocean overflowed into my city and the water has been stuck there ever since. Trying to dig canals hasn't really helped either.

Thank you for this thread!

Maybe a very easy questions, but it does not work like in C:S1: How can I change directions of one-way-roads? Is there a special key combination or button I missed?

Use the upgrade road tool on the one-way road(s) and drag it towards the direction you want the traffic to flow.

I'm going to answer a question no one asked because I was dumb and it took me forever to find this, but pavement paths are located under landscaping. I knew they existed by it took me a long while to find them, this was not an obvious place to me. (I expected either somewhere under roads or possibly parks.)

Is there a mode or way where you can hover/tooltip to see what KIND of zone currently exists on a spot, or are we expected to differentiate between all the slightly different shades of green on our own?

I've got a small question. I play windowed, and when I'm in the main menu, I can move my mouse freely from CS2 to the other programs I have open. But when I go to my city, my mouse is 'stuck' in the game and I must alt-tab to go to another program. What's the setting to disable this, so I can freely move my mouse over my desktop even while building a city?

This can be changed in the settings under Graphics -> Game Cursor Mode. At least, that's how it works for me in full-screen.

I also have a question of my own: I seem to remember from videos I watched that it is possible to drag roads or intersections over. Am I remembering wrong or is this a feature, and if it is, how do I use it?

What does this mean?, I habe just built on top of it and just wondered.
I am, like most of us on my first city but cant locate the details we had in CS1 which said whether there was oil etc under the ground so I have no clue.

Cheers

This looks like Fertile Soil for Farmland Industry.
The map mode for it is in the info view (upper left (i)), but locked until your city reaches... level 3? 4?
...which is rather silly.
