1. Can you assassinate someone without a plot?

Assassination button has disappeared!

2. in the latest campaign start date, why is Reach in war with Ironborn, and why does Ironborn win the war 90% of the time? Is this intended? I've never seen Reach surviving the invasion. I've read upto book 5.

1) Yes and no, diplo assassinations have been removed but if you have the intrigue or your spymaster does you can hire faceless men for a price.

2) Spoilers... the Iromborn invade the Reach as you know it happens in the books. They win cause they have lots of troops but struggle to keep the land as they get revolts often.

Thanks.

Regarding no2, I think Ironborn should lose the war in the mod for the sake of realism. They had barely enough man to raid North while most of its troops were away, let alone rule it... Reach mobilized 80 thousand men during the war of the five kings. No way they would be subjugated by Ironborn who can't even raise 1/10 of that number in the novel.

But keep in mind that the Tyrells had stuff going on other than the Ironborn, which gives them a not so good army as the Clash of Kings time.

AI Mace doesn't know how to withdraw from the other conflicts and return to beat up the Ironborn. As a human player, withdraw from the other conflicts, beat up the Ironborn, and return to the fight. In canon, I'm pretty sure Willas will be able to handle the crisis well.
