Hi. I've been playing a game as County of Napoli-cum-Principality of Campania. As a vassal of elective-law Byzantium, I am now heir to the Byzantine throne. There are two problems with this.
1. I don't quite know how to manage such a huge kingdom.
2. I'm AARing the game, and don't really think turning into a huge Byzantium would fit the style.
I've peered into the save file and found this line of code:
laws = { elective_law = yes royal_preorgatory_law = yes regal_supremacy = yes }
I want to make Byzantium have a different succession law. Can you tell me what I should change?

what about just saving, entering the game as byzantine, changing the law, saving and entering your dynasty again?

It might mess up Byzantium, and the AI might mess up Campania.... ok I'm paranoid.

Observe your own laws and then choose which one you like the most.
Then change the 'elective_law' line into what you seem it would be best for Byznatium.

Yes, you are.

Enter the game as Byzantium. Pause. Change laws. Save Game. Exit. Reenter as Campania.

Even in the worst case that you don't pause... how much can the AI screw up in 10 real time seconds?????

Fixed nicely now, thanks. I switched to semisalic law.
