Please note that this is just an attempt to identify the possible origin of freezing issue, this is not a solution!

To help to understand the source of the problem, all people affected by the freezing issue should try the following procedure:

  1. start the Task Manager
  2. run the game directly from Steam menù present in the Start bar or through the Steam client
  3. detect in the processes tab of the Task Manager the three processes NWAC.exe, GameOverlayUI.exe and Steam.exe

  4. click with the right button of the mouse on NWAC.exe process and select Affinity option
  5. leave selected just one CPU instead of the present ones (in example, in the image I leaved selected the CPU 0 only)

  6. click with the right button of the mouse on GameOverlayUI.exe and select Affinity option
  7. leave selected the same CPU you choosed for NWAC.exe (as before, I leaved selected CPU 0)
  8. click with the right button of the mouse on Steam.exe and select Affinity option
  9. leave selected the same CPU you choosed for NWAC.exe and GameOverlayUI.exe (as before, I leaved selected CPU 0)
  10. you can close the Task Manager and start to play the game
This should work on XP SP3 (all version), but also on newer version of Windows system the result should be the same.

Please report any result, stating if the stability of the game is improved or not (downgrade of performances possible but with increased stability).

Thanks in advance for help.

I don't even have the process "GameOverlayUI.exe"
:(

It seems to increase stability, I was able to continue scenarios that previously crashed a lot earlier.
But it did only prolong the stable period.

Hi, I have 4 CPU slots, the best result was obtained with CPU 3, the game last for longer time compared to the others, giving me the opportunity to enjoy the game for approximatively 30 minutes.
