the game keeps crashing randomly while i am playing and i have no idea what is causing it

If your issue is definitely not covered there, please post your settings.txt, system.log and error.log files (you'll need to rename the .log files to .txt to upload). Also open setup.log, search for "checksum", and paste that line only in here.

OK, that all looks fine. As long as you are NOT doing the marking of Interesting Characters as mentioned in the sticky thread, it pretty much has to be a machien issue. Does it only happen after you've been playing for a while? Please report the temperatures of your CPU and video (GPU) 1/ before starting the game up and 2/ after say 20 minutes' play. If your PC's vendor has given you no way of reading temperatures, Google for and install SPEEDFAN.
my CPU temp before playing is 49°c and the GPU temp is around 51°c then when i start playing the GPU temp jumps around from about 58°c to 62°c and the CPU is around 55°c. but one strange thing is that it only happens in one save file and i am sure i did not set any Interesting Characters.
