At seemingly random intervals my Rome Gold will freeze accept for the cursor, which I can still move, but otherwise I cannot do anything but ctrl+alt+del out. The music also keeps playing.

I'm running Windows XP SP3, Nvidia 9600gt.
Rome Gold is fully patched to VV 2.1.
I done everything on the crash sticky in the forum. I've turned off multisampling and installed the noculture-fix events file.

Any suggestions?

Cammunition, it sounds like you and I are having the exact same problem. I am still waiting on further suggestions myself. If one is posted to my thread (titled "Locking up") I will reply with the suggested fix on your thread as well.
 
Please run DXDIAG, Save All Info, and post dxdiag.txt here (first delete everything after the Sound Devices section so it will fit). Also post your Rome/settings.txt and Rome/logs/system.log files.
