Just a quick one does anyone know how the random lances are constructed at the start

I can see that it come from the item collection Mech Starting files

mechdef_blackjack_BJ-1 Mech 1 4
mechdef_vindicator_VND-1R Mech 1 3
mechdef_centurion_CN9-A Mech 1 2
mechdef_enforcer_ENF-4R Mech 1 2

for example here is the data from Mech Starting 0

What I really want to know is the correlation behind the second number and the other files because the first 3 items seem to be self explanatory in terms of mechdef, type and quantity

Does anyone know what the 4,3,2 means for the other files as I'm looking to start again once heavy metal drops but wanted to include the chance of no mech and the chance of a damage heavy mech (have to repair which will drain finance and time)

If anyone has an idea that would be great

mechdef_blackjack_BJ-1 Mech 1 4

Means: definition used, type of unit, number of this unit to be added, number of times this entry appears on the deck that is used for random selection

So, for the starting 'Mechs the deck is:
* Blackjack - 4 entries
* Vindicator - 3 entries
* Enforcer - 2 entries
* Centurion - 2 entries

The game then selects an entry from this deck. There are 11 possible entries to be chosen, so a BJ-1 has slightly more than 33% chance of being chosen, then the Vindie has slightly more than 25%, etc.

Okay is if I was to set all of them to say 10 and added in Mechdef_BlackKnight Mech 1 1

I would have a deck of 41 mechs 1 of which is a black knight

Is there any link between the different starting lance files or did Kiva just nudge the numbers to where she thought was best

Correct.

Each starting 'Mech is chosen independently from the others, if that's what you mean.
