Re-installing from temp. files

I downloaded Victoria through Gamer's Gate and installed it. Then I had to uninstall it. I kept the temporary files and am trying to run the autoplay to reinstall the game. The menu comes up, I click install, the installer loads, then an error message pops up that says "Please go to the Control Panel to install and configure system components." I'm running Windows XP.

Or is it not even possible to install from the temp files left from the Gamer's Gate download?

What 'autoplay'? If you didn't make a backup of the setup.exe file before the install completed you will need to run the GG downloader again to re-install.
