Is there anyway I can play the doomsday scenario without that usa vs ussr war? I want to start off from when the war ended, with east germany and west germany.... is this possible?

Search for the Cold War tech tree expansion from nomonhan it has a full scripted cold war (1945) scenario with tons of events and new technologies.
I suggest you to buy DH and then install "New World Order 2" mod. It has 1945 and 1950 scenarios. Also, you will get new map of DH and many other new features.
