Howdy all, After reading all the amazing AARs on this site I'm pretty well hooked on the idea of picking up a copy of EU. *But* (there's always a 'but'), my desktop is near the bottom end of the suggested min requirements (233 P2, 64 megs RAM, 4 Meg video/game card). Any opinions on whether my machine can run the game without too much problem? Thanks for any input :)

It should be OK.
My daughter runs it on a Cyrix P200mmx (eqivalent to P166 Pent) and 64 MB RAM. It does OK.

More RAM would be nice but you should have no problem. Get it from EB then, if it dont run, you can take it back.

Have fun..........

It runs on my Dell 233 with 128 Ram. It should be okay but more Ram would help (as always).

Size matters!

Used your responses as a good reason to order 128 MBs more RAM (I've been looking for a good excuse and didn't realize how affordable it is!). Guess now I can order the game and pray I don't get the copycode white square of death :)

Thanks!

I have a system similar to yours. I've been playing GC. My computer is fine early in the scenario, but as I move towards half way, I find that the setting '4 days/sec' is not being met, especially at month's end/year end, or if I have my screen centered on Western Europe. Still, the game does run, and looks great. If you are looking to make major decisions, I would suggest hitting 'pause', as this seems to give the CPU a breather.

Game Slowing as time progresses

I have noticed this issue running the game even on faster PC's. For some reason, after I have played for some time (a few hours at least)game play becomes noticably slower. I have found two basic ways to fix this:

1) Exit and re-load.

2) Realize that it's 3am and time to go to bed...

Option 1 usually works better.

The extra RAM is more important than is indicated by the responses here. I'm no expert (but I have played one on television), on other threads other posters have indicated that the extra RAM will help prevent annoying crashes in the latter years of the GC.

I have a fairly knew Dell PIII 1 GHz system, but only 128 Mb RAM. I get crashes in the 1700's when I try to use the faster time scales of the game. (use autosave!!)

Its annoying enough to me (but I have low tolerance) that I may be upgrading my memory soon.

Others have reported that more than 128 Mb helps a lot with this particular problem.

BTW It really isn't too bad a problem, so I wouldn't let having only 64 Mb prevent me from buying the game.
