Designing countries seems good. What exactly do you mean? What area is what kingdom, what's the kingdoms name, etc. ?

Duchies need names, I have recreatable Kingdoms named and the regions they are assigned to (if you want to start there), but only a vague idea on the starting set up.

I'll e-mail you a .rar of this stuff.

Hi, just found this.

I usually lurk and almost never post but this seems really cool. I haven't had a chance to read the whole thread, but I'd love to help. It seems like you need (at the very least) duchy names and coat-of-arms pictures. How would I go about helping with that? Can any .jpg turn in to a CoA? Anything else you need help with?

Coat of arms must be .bmp, people usually post them as .png and I guess I'll convert them when then time comes to start loading them in.

Holy shit it is an...

ALPHA a.1!

That's right, the July 2010 alpha is being released here and now!
August 9th hotfix: here!

Instructions:
Download the .rar file
Put .rar file into a fresh, second copy of DV 2.1
Right click and choose "extract here"
Confirm anything that pops up always choosing to merge folders and copy any older files
Download the August 9th hotfix, install it into the DB folder (should overwrite one file).

What it contains:
- New map!
- New localizations for races/cultures
- Twit fest! Whole map is covered in single prov counties

What to expect for the next alpha:
- Creatable Kingdoms
- Province variables to be done (wealth/buildings)
- Some countries and families as they will be in full release
- More graphical changes
- Changes to traits and some early events

What not to expect for the next alpha:
- A beta release
- Starting scenario to be finished
- In depth families with deep connections and more histories
- In-depth work on events, especially concerning new traits and province effects
- A completely stable release

Remember to check in with any inconsistencies you find in the game, or anything that could be an error, such as (but not limited to) Province name and map name not matching up.

I just downloaded this, and it's looking very impressive! I will have a look at the map and see if I can find any errors/inconsistencies at some point soon.

I get cranky when I don't get my fantasy.

Well? Have you dived back in those ten days ago? Can I help? Do you need help?

I have been working off-computer, mostly trying to do province wealths. Have you been working on characters and nations as you said?

My idea, for the start, is to use basic numbers for wealth to ease programming.

I am hesitant to start because, to be honest, adding more stuff to the provinces is becoming a huge drag. I might work on something so that I can edit provinces more easily, but I have no idea how to do it. I only have a very basic understanding of C and a good understanding of Matlab, but only in the sense that I can use it for iterative and recursing mathematical and engineering problems.

Province-wise we still have wealth, buildings, modifiers and techs to spread around. I am trying to find a friend who can program so we can TRY to get some kind of province editor together... but it will probably be graphics free...

EDIT: I'm an idiot, I forgot that only the map is released, not the actual scenario. Well, it looks fine for the most part, but a few of the provinces have wrongly named subtitles when you hover over them (the province to the right of Lilg, Hoi-something, is listed as Merv in the hoverscreen), and a number of the characters don't have a map show up when you click on them in the main selection screen.

Can you please give me a full list so that I may fix this right away?

I have no idea how to fix this.

Let’s see, apart from pretty much the entire northern sea having subtitles and being weird colored in all map modes except terrain, and none of the shields corresponding to their lands, we have…

Du (with umlaut): Connaught, Ireland.
Uilos: Meath, Ireland
Simbelmyne (also umlaut over e): Connaught, Ireland
Ihug (what is it with this mod and umlauts, anyway?): Iceland, Norway
Glan (accent on the a): Leinster, Ireland
Caras Forod: Iceland, Norway
Solch: Ulster, Ireland
Gellui: Smaland (there’s a circle over the first a), Sweden
Tin (accent on i): Ulster, Ireland
Bauglir: Ulster, Ireland
Nen: Connaught, Ireland
Rhiw (accent on i): Munster, Ireland
Draug: Meath, Ireland
Lanc: Munster, Ireland
Erion: Leinster, Ireland
Bolentur: Deheubarth, Wales
Amica: Gloucester, England
Marsibas: Hereford, England
Anul: Deheubarth, Wales
Tyrovur: Deheubarth, Wales
Midh (accents are the new umlaut! On the i): Munster, Ireland
Tyratris: Canterbury, England
Nubadus: Gloucester, England
Dalysis: Oxford, England
AEw (A and E are merged): Somerset, England
Caras Hanar: Somerset, England
Gwaew: Canterbury, England
Esterea: Cornwall, England
Cyprennas: Cornwall, England
Gulluoglu: The Isles, Scotland
Kyba: Orkney, Norway
Maecheneb: Somerset, England
Myrntellen: Cornwall, England
Manivis: Gloucester, England
Ursadene: Orkney, Norway
Antardul: Moray, Scotland

Egorur: Moray, Scotland

There's more. A lot more. But I don't have that much time tonight (although I will be doing edits for a bit) nor will I over the next few days (maybe weeks), so you won't hear back from me for a little bit.

Well the shields doesn't surprise me given I haven't changed them yet. I don't know what you mean by the wrong subtitles. All those listed are properly named in my game, and the same config files are in the alpha.

Actually now I get it, you have creatable titles, darned, I forgot to upload a certain db file. Well shit. I'll upload it as soon as I have internet access through something other than my phone.
