Those observations are entirely correct John, even indeed coming from a non-objective viewpoint.
However, would I join a campaign entirely filled with players aiming for a realpolitik goal I would have no objections at all to behave likewise.
Ie, I protect newbies in normal games now and then, but I wouldn't do so if everyone has joined a campaign with the specific objective to play realpolitisque.
