Howdy Surviving Mars forum! I was hoping to inquire about rebel yell and the USA's periodic funding. For the former, could someone please explain to me the mechanics of this game rule? How exactly does it compare to the regular chance of a colonist going renegade (full disclosure, I've never had a colonist go renegade and not sure of the exact conditions for it to occur).

Regarding the latter, is there anyway that I can turn off the periodic funding of the USA sponsor?

Cheers, and thanks!

I know its not exactly what you want but its the best I can do. Renegade is a trait a person can gain if they are unhappy. So essentially let them get their health/sanity/comfort levels low and they will probably decide the to smash the machine and so on. It seems to only happen to martianborn. Earthborn just become earthsick and go home in this circumstance.

Renegade status never goes away and if you don't have a security tower they will steal resources and force maintenance on buildings. They also do not work. Renegades are essentially seniors with extra downsides.

I have never done rebel yell so I cannot answer if it just lowers the threshold for renegade to happen or makes it happen periodically.

As for wanting a greater challenge than the USA sponsor. Try playing a different sponsor.

Rebell Yell seems to turn colonists into Renegades at a much higher happiness level, either that or it just turns any colonist into a renegade, it can also happen to Earthborn I think; you'll eventually end up with a few in each dome unless you set one dome to catch 'em all. They also completely destroy buildings, not just force maintenance on them, you'll have to pay the entire building cost.

The sponsors abilities cannot be turned off AFAIK.
