As Russia I annexed Astrakhan. The province of Astrakhan revolts annually, making it necessary for me to maintain a large army there. Oh well, my fault - I should have just taken enough provinces to border Sibir instead of taking the whole thing...

My question is - if I were to let the rebels keep the damn place, will they be content with their rump kingdom, or will their armies move into adjacent provinces? I fthe former, I may just let them be a buffer between me and Persia (which is what I should have done in the first place.)

I've seen rebel armies stay in place, and I've seen them go into neighboring provinces. By leaving them there, you could see the resurrection of an independent Astrakhan. Who knows what yours will do? I would definitely send an army in to rid yourself of the scum. :)

The revolts will settle down after the nationalistic thoughts fade (after 30 years). Of course, if you have no tolerance for Moslems, that could be causing it as well.

Relisous Tolerance

You should raise your tolerance for Muslims if you'd like a trouble-free Astrakhan along with any other Sunni or Shia provinces you occupy. If you don't want to do this and want to keep the province rebel-free, allow the rebels to drive the population below 5000, then re-take it and send a missionary (colonist) to convert the people.

By the way, if I recall correctly, Astrakhan doesn't have Nationalism so your only problem is the religious tolerance. (I may be wrong here).

Thanks for the insights. I think I'm as tolerant of Muslims as Catholics, but perhaps I'll raise it a bit.
