Crusaders by Zofia Kossak-Szczucka.
The epic story about Silesian knights taking part in the 1st crusade, in 4 volumes. That's part of the trilogy together with Blessed are The Meek and The Lepper King.
Pretty good, written in 1930s, as far as I know they were translated on some languages.

Thanks, i'll check it out. My German is a bit Rusty, but it'll be a good excercise.
