Recruiting Holy Orders while excommunicated

As my character became excommunicated, I thought the Holy Orders wouldn't want to serve me. My surprise is that I can recruit them. "Nice", I think. I pay the piety to recruit them but once they arrive my country they decide not to serve me anymore due to my excommunication. So I have paid the piety and lost the Holy Order in only 1 day. If I'm not supposed to have a Holy Order in my army while excommunicated, the game shouldn't allow me to recruit them.

Do you have a save file where you're excommunicated? I'll have a look at it.

No, sorry. It was one of my autosaves and it's erased now Is there any chance to, given a savegame, start at a previous date? If yes, I could send you an actual savegame and tell you the date I got excommunicated.

I've had this experience too. You can recruit Holy Orders while being excommunicated, and then they disband.

Unfortunately it's not possible to change the timeline when a save game is loaded. But I will try to reproduce it anyway and have it in mind when testing the game. Thank you for reporting it.

EDIT: I managed to reproduce it by excommunicating myself with some loading and saving techniques! The bug is confirmed, will pass it on to our internal forums.
