I set the refresh rate to 85Hz but every time I start the game it's automaticly lowered to 60Hz. How to force the game to stay at 85Hz?
P.S. I'm using Win98 and ATI Xpert video card

do you have the latest drivers of ATI? Have you tried more than one version? It seems to be abug with ATI only as no one has reported it...

there's a bug that will change it on exit, but you are talking right while you are in game, right?

I have search ATI's site and all I could find was related to Win2k.
Anyway, it's worth trying.

There is similar problem with 3d games runing on open GL...windows changes the refresh rate from 85 to 60 and it makes it 85 again when you exit the game(but in the game you play with 60Hz), but I saw fixes for that bug in internet....but in EU there is no 3d ecceretation so that fix doesn't work...I thought may be somebody knows different soliution for this problem

P.S. Yes I have the latest version of the drivers and latest directX

See if you have the correct monitor driver. What happens is probably that the game runs in a slightly different graphics mode than you use in Windows, and there's no setting for it yet. With Win98 or Me the monitor driver then steps in and tries to find a refresh rate that works.

There is a separate refresh rate issue with gaming under Win2000 and WinXP as well, but that's another story.

I used the default monitor driver that was the problem..thanx for the help
