Its not true. It may be true in some cases, but we dont know everything about everyone. There are drones in MI that was designed to be individualistic but become integrated into Machine Intelligence, and thus are able to be individualistic again. There is lot of possibilities and we dont know which one is true for any given empire.
Would be great to see those examples tho. Some MI drones just die, some of them become individualistic spontanously, and some need to be reprogrammed by conqueror and this should be dependant on conqueror techs or events.

I also agree with this nuance, but right now they all instantly convert by magic - and I personally find that much more problematic from a realism point of view (and I type this fully aware that all of this fantasy is anyway, but still...)
