I wrote a decision this morning that gives guardianship of an underage ward who does not have a guardian to the regent (and given some of the harsh character modifiers you can get if you have a negative trait and are a pagan, it's entirely possible that an underaged ruler can not set his/her own guardian due to negative and sinking authority.)

I was also thinking of events that have councilors and relatives vying for the title Designated Regent.

Any other ideas for regents/designated regents/regencies?

Interesting idea, will be following. Vanilla does not seem to have any relatives or counciliors vying for the Designated Regent, so that would for sure be an improvement.

I'm taking AO's Become Regent ambition and modifying it to cover designated regents as well, and allowing vassals to vie for the position, not just those at court. Close relatives and religion heads are more likely to take the ambition.

What would make a character hesitate to promote himself as a candidate for designated regent? (Bear in mind that things like shy and content are already factored into the MTTH for the event.) Negative opinion of the liege toward the candidate, anything else?

What would make a liege more or less inclined to appoint a candidate as designated regent? I'm thinking honest/deceitful, just/arbitrary as positive/negative, and both greedy and charitable as negative (don't want the regent taking the realm treasury, or giving it away), plus opinion... anything else?

Ambitious or craven might affect things too.
