Well, I hadn't intended to post this here, but a friend of mine thought it would be a good idea to share it with a larger crowd than just people that read my livejournal.

I apologize that my AAR is all hosted off-site, but I don't feel like reformatting all the HTML for bbcode. :p

The basic setup is that I wanted to play something with some challenge, but not too much, and some possibilities for expansion. So I chose the Count of Reggio in the Hastings scenario. He starts as a Vassal to the Duke of Apulia, so he has some muscle backing him up, but he also starts with several Muslim sheikdoms that are as tough, or tougher, than him nearby on Sicily. Plenty of interesting possibilities there depending on how the 'dice' roll.

You can read the parts of it that are finished by following the links below. If this is breaking some kind of rule, let me know and I'll try to fix it. ^^

Chapter 1: A Rock and a Hard Place
Chapter 2: The Normans
Chapter 3: Earth-shaking Fire
Chapter 4: And Roger begat...
Chapter 5: Trapani
Chapter 6: Terror and Triumph
Chapter 7: Scipio
Chapter 8: Family Matters
Chapter 9: Carthage
Chapter 10: The Last Days
Chapter 11: The New King

You can leave comments here, or in my LJ, or whatever. ^^ I just thought I'd share my adventures as the (former) Count of Reggio.

Man. I got into *so much* debt fighting wars with my second king.

Reggio, A Crusader Kings AAR - Chapter 12: Rome
Reggio, A Crusader Kings AAR - Chapter 13: Mauretania
Reggio, A Crusader Kings AAR - Chapter 14: Peace that Would Not Last

Fortunately I had a stroke of luck and his son, the third king, lost his second wife in childbirth. So I married a pneumoniac for his third wife (ka-ching 600-something gold), then she died a few months later and I married #4. Out of debt, and now with a realm that spreads from the Atlantic to Leptis Magna, fully half of 'Africa.'

But man, I'm never fighting another war against the Kingdom of Germany, even if they are in another civil war. They're just too big for someone that owns mostly poor African provinces to take on. Pretty fun war though, anyway. :D

This is a little jewel of an AAR, I recommend clicking those links!

Norman Italy is always a very good place to play. Some bitesized muslims nearby to conquer, and should you get overconfident you can always try your hand in the German or Byzantine empires :)

For the rest I agree with Ringelnatz

Thanks for the praise, both of you. :)

And man, I tried the Germans while they were in the middle of a civil war, it still didn't go so well for me. lol But I got Rome out of the deal, so it wasn't so bad.

I am Roger de Hauteville and it is my hope that these words will find you, kind reader, in the warmest of circumstances. This tome is my testament as to the events which have unfolded during the course of life. I do not endeavor to give you a complete biography of my life, for that is up to the chroniclers and historians to provide. I simply wish to explain my actions.

Just, be carefull not to conquer too much. With such a speed in 50 years you will be at the borders of China. Let your king be defeated from time to time, for the sake of the story.

Oh. I know. I don't plan on being an all conquering machine. I foresee a lot of trouble with my vassals in the future anyway.

Also everyone, sorry for the delay in the next parts. I decided to take a break from CK for a while, so I've been playing Hearts of Iron 2 and some action games for a change of pace. I'll get back to it soon I'm sure. ^^
