In my current DV game I conquered Aleppo and then later became Emperor of Byzantium.
During the game I got an event for Aleppo saying it was hard to govern a province so far away.
This seems strange, since Aleppo is well within the area controlled by the Eastern Roman Empire.

Is there somewhere where you can see what the regions are that are consider close in CK/DV?

Across the English channel can be too far away, and across the Straits of Gibraltar, etc. I would assume Aleppo is part of the Levant area, and Byzantium only includes modern-day Greece and Turkey or so.

I recommend having the King or Duke title for vassals in "far away" lands.

I find it bit weird that sometimes those events fire to provinces which are relatively close and sometimes even inside the area of your primary title. If I remember correctly I had a lot of those events fire inside the Kingdom of Germany when I was playing as Brandenburg/Germany. Those also fired in Pomeranian and Prussian provinces which I owned and which weren't geographically very far from my capital.
