On xbox series x This is the second time that my ally, whom I am in a defensive pact with turned into the crisis, dragging me into war with the galaxy. How come there isn't an option to break the defensive alliance with them? Technically, by becoming the crisis they are declaring war on the rest of the galaxy. How does that drag in defensive pacts?

Interesting, while this hasn't happened to me, it's intriguing to know that it can happen!

Does the game give you any warning signs like your ally becoming more militant or isolatist etc?

It'd be good to know so you hopefully have a chance to break your pact and fight against them - indeed I've seen various in game events break the pacts or alliances that I was in, so it is indeed strange that this one doesn't :) .

Nothing that I noticed. In the games defense, there are ALOT of notifications. But something as monumentally game changing as your ally becoming the crisis should have a notification equivalent to the 4th of July grand finale. A fellow player in a stellaris fb group said that if you look at the empires info before they become the crisis it says "crisis aspirant". But that doesn't seem like enough. How often do you look at an allies card after you made all the pacts?.

How often do you look at their ethics? Militarist and Xenophobe empires are more likely to take this perk compared to Pacifists and Xenophile. If they're a Gestalt Consciousness, you're screwed because then you gotta look at their civics
