So I pre-ordered IR and played from day 1, without any issues or crashes (other than the simple day 1 common .dll fix that took all of 30 seconds to resolve). I switch between my Desktop and Laptop which both run CK2 with Ease.

Ever since 1.0.2 I have had no end of issues with CTD (crash to desktop) where the game will minimise itself and run in the background, acting like it's still there, hidden except for a small black square in the top left corner.

My drivers are up to date on both PC's, Task Manager "Bring to front" does nothing. The only way to resolve the crash is to end the process and relaunch, which usually results in another crash 5 minutes later. No option appears to exists in order to save or send a bug report(s).

For me IR is basically unplayable right now. I am hoping I get some sort of response on this Forum as posting to Steam resulted in no response for the past 48 hours. I haven't had to use the PDS Forum since WotV sadly got killed off but here goes...

We only offer official technical support here and in our Zendesk ticket system, not in Steam, Twitter, Facebook, reddit, or any other channel. Sorry about that!

This happens with any new IR game you start, or only one or some existing save games?

DXDIAG is a program you run from a command prompt or the Windows start menu 'run' dialog box (or 'search programs' in Windows 7 or later). After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

Please attach your Documents/Paradox/Imperator/pdx_settings.txt.
From your Documents/Paradox/Imperator/logs/ folder, attach system.log .

Thanks for the response. All files attached below.

This is happening on both new and loaded Saves since 1.0.2 as I deleted my previous version saves when it was mentioned that Ironman wouldn't be compatible.

Okay, I think I might have located the solution!

When the game crashed after a few minutes of playing today, I luckily managed to get a glimpse of my NVIDIA GPU Settings change to undesirable defaults in my taskbar!? I changed these to the correct performance settings and I have been running the game for 45 minutes since and no crashing.

I've rectified this for now and will monitor it, but i'm assuming 1.0.2 either introduced something new to the settings or the patch reset something since the initial install???

....AND sods law.

I minimised the game to type this, go back in and play for about 3 minutes, change a law and the game crashed :eek::eek:

Still crashing every so often. Since I updated the NVIDIA Driver the first time around, I have been able to play for about 30 minutes before a crash, rather than crashing every 5 minutes.

That's pretty good evidence the problem is in that area then.

Can I see a new dxdiag.txt please.

When you have one of these crashes, can you start the game right up again and load a save okay? Or do you need to wait a while, or reboot, before it will work again?

In the first post you mention a simple .dll fix. Something you tried before updating those drivers.
What was it exactly? Normally you don't have to do those things.

This was a release day fix when the game would not launch from Steam, an existing .dll needed to be moved in the Steam/SteamApps/Imperator Directory and fixed it.

As AndrewT states above, I'm going to agree that there is some kind of GPU related crash happening here. I will investigate it further tonight and provide a new DXDIAG :)

You will have to wait for AndrewT I guess, but I can say at least that it's wrong that your videocard in DXDIAG is named:
Intel(R) HD Graphics 4600

What is your correct videocard? It was an Nvidia isn't it? It doesn't show in the DXDIAG, so probably it's not installed correctly or not being used correctly.

Here (and I hope I am allowed to post such links) is a description of something the same and some discussion. Hopefully it can send you in the right direction.

The 4600 is motherboard integrated GPU on the Laptop. The GTX 870M is what is running the Display.

Actually it does, search the dxdiag.txt for 'nvidia'. It's just not properly installed.

Did you do this? because it doesn't seem so from that latest dxdiag:

Do you think it would be better if I just disabled the 4600?

No.

Did you do the clean nVidia install I described, with two reboots etc?
