Is there any way to make/force AI act a bit different in his political decisions? Like make wars betwen tiny countries usually finish with white peace or payment/tribute other than just annexation? Or if this is impossible, at least set some contries as not aggressive to each other?

I can't get this to work. Here's what I did:
I have Rome: Gold steam version. I copied the folder to my desktop and applied the beta patch. Then renamed the cache. Lastly I unzipped the mod to my Rome installation folder as instructed but nothing came up on my launcher so I copied the mod files to the /mod folder and then the option of RoA 2.00 (not 2.01) came up. I selected that, went ingame and every time I click single player I crash. I downloaded the last version from the first page so why is it showing 2.00?

I would love to play this mod but unfortunately it keeps crashing when clicking on "single player" in the main menu.
I am playing Rome Gold (dvd version) and have applied the beta patch (unzipped to main game folder). Then I renamed the cache and unzipped RoA_2.01 into the main game folder. I then followed Wermutkraut's advise and copied the province textures folder from the vanilla cache into the RoA cache (I also tried without the texture folder).
When launching the game from either RomeGame.exe or Rome.exe, RoA does not appear in the mod selection box, but maybe it's not supposed to? I tried moving the RoA folder into the mod folder but it still doesn't show up. Since the game now works for gekomees I am obviously doing something wrong. I would really appreciate some advice and my apologies if I'm being dense .

I'm having trouble installing this mod. I've tried several times without success, so I'm clearly doing something wrong. Could someone post detailed instructions on how to install the mod? I have Windows 7 and the steam version of Rome Gold.

Thank you!

Looks good. [insert thumbs up smiley here] I downloaded it and will try it out tomorrow.

Meanwhile:
"- A conquered province will now keep more of its citizens (15% instead of 5%)" --- from the changelog.

Could anyone please tell me how to mod this myself? I've been trying to find it in the game files and I've been searching this forum and googling, but I can't find anything. Any help would be very much appreciated. :)

Having the same problem, with the feeling that I'm missing some really basic step. Alas, I don't know what it is.

I Rock. after 3 hours of re installing the f**king game and mod in different ways while occupying my self by watching tv to help the time pass, i figured it out how to make it work.
Mod looked to promising to give up.

- Make sure you have a clean copy of Rome Vae Victis.
- Find installation folder. For me with steam in windows 7 C:\Programfiles(86x)\Steam\Steamapps\Common\Europa Universalis Rome
- Patch it to 3.36b (Copy and paste patch files over the game files which will include over writing them.)
- Here is the trick. Start the game after patch install and before you install mod. It gives the patch a chance to load up were it suppose to go.
- Extract Reign of the ancients mod files to desktop.
- copy files inside Reign of the ancients folder and paste them in the game directory which will include over writing files.
- In the game directory delete all of the contents of the Rome\Map\cache\ folder, except for the province_textures folder.
- Delete all the texture files from the Rome\Map\cache\province_textures folder, however keep the now empty texture folder inside the cache folder after deleting the texture files inside this folder.
- copy Reign of the ancients folder and Image file and paste it in the mod folder.
- Use your game launcher to start up. pick the Mod from the drop down list.
- Start the game. During load the game will load all the files you deleted and it will work.

I hope my effort helped others.

Did several test again and it worked following those steps.
good luck and enjoy the game.

It was worth the hassle. the game is a lout of fun.

Hello, all.

I have been trying to install everything so that this mod will work, and by following Morbuis' instructions I managed to get the game to load up without any CTDs. However, when I select Single Player and choose a scenario, the entire map is grey and if I try to select one of the bannered countries in front I am told that it does not exist at the startdate chosen. Adjusting the startdate seems to have no effect, there are simply no nations available at any time. What could be wrong here? I am running Windows 8, but since the game loads I don't think that is the problem.

I have seen that during loading of my games were the map is complete greyed out with no countries to select. I have to just restart the game to fix that issue for myself.
I am also using windows 7 and not 8. sorry I cant help any further.

Anyone else with ideas? I really want to try this mod.

Anyone got any information (like a chart maybe) of governement while running RoA? I'm playing rome atm and wondering if i should go toward dictatorship wondering if from there i could get to something more advance. Or maybe should i simply wait to reach some tech to get some other choice?
Was mostly wondering if there was something like that that would exist?

Governments roughly go like this:

Tier 1: Tribes
Tier 2: Advanced Tribes (Federation and Kingdom):
Tier 3: Republics and Monarchies, Dictatorships
Tier 4: Imperium and Imperial Republic

You do not get to a more advanced govform by going Dictatorship. Dictatorship is basically a form of Republic that gives you more control over the state, but requires keeping Tyranny up or else it returns to being a Republic.

Dictatorship is a republic in which the ruler's party gets a very large influence bonus, and you're free to appoint people to offices rather than have them elected by the Senate. To get an Imperium/Imperial Republic you just need to grow to a certain size, 60 provinces off the top of my head.

Hi I don't know if this is the thread to ask this? I play with this mod and find it quite enjoyable (I play with the gold version on Steam and have no troubles. I read the bug report and just thought I'd throw this in) one thing that irks me in the early stages of the game is that my neighbours (in this case the Goths in particular) can build ships where as I can not. As I start out on an Island with land connections that gets severed by enemy ships this is quite game breaking for me. I cannot fathom how the tribal neighbours all build ships as there is no tomorrow where I can build none? I have tried playing the neighbours and when I play them they can't build ships so it must be some AI cheat to make the game harder. My question is, is there some way to turn this of? If not how are you supposed to expand as the (the name escapes me) nation on Sealand in Denmark? I could use some strategy tips as well for this. I have taken the Goths once but only with the help of an ally who could build ships. Is there any other way as this is quite limiting?

Edit I finally figured out that I should trade to wood to build triremes. I just find it irksome that the AI does not have these limits.

I'm wondering about what are the effect on assigning uint to a region? does it have any impact on convertion? will the dux use them to defend against invader? .... (I'm playing roman and have expanded a bit on the northern pagean and on the civilized meditarean island) I'm wondering if it worth to produced more unit to assign a bit everywhere, or concentrated on border region or maybe focus on legion i can deploy with my navies when situation requiere it.
