Thanks for the update moxs602 e-mail me if you need me to do any of the things. just a quick note, the german still don't seem to be able to attack france too well, through i admit it was vastly better than before, now entering post ww2, and map of futhure EU look stange hmm... poland and german are all with west and red army have all of france and italy!!! lol

while playing as usa under RDD V_1.3.25
clicking on any of the Nation Specific Doctrines causes ctd
in the secret_weapons_tech file the 7170 Advanced Electronic Computers required = { 7160 17040 13500 }
and 17040 Basic Semiconductors required = { 13500 7170 } , witch means Basic Semiconductors will never research at current

btw i know this is a wip but i like were you going with it

There are CTDs being caused by Republican Spain War event and a Vichy France Event.
There will be a patch fixing these later tonight or tomorrow morning

A new patch is uploaded - hopefully fixing CTDs. Any information on USA 1940s CTDs with production que would be helpful.

NEWS UPDATE
Expect update Version 1.3.29 Sunday Night or Monday Morning.
SCW is fixed and reworked.
Stronghold Events are completed.
A few bits of new tech has been added.
Armoured Division Events have been fixed and reworked.
This will be the last update for a couple weeks at least.
Next to be worked on are Historic Tech Events and 1945 Events
They will take some time.
MORE Feeback is needed. I cannot improve what I do not know about. HELP.
FYI - IF my calculations are correct RDD is now well over 10 000 events and growing.

Finally I am quite excited about the early work on RDD for Darkest Hour. I am planning on a Light version, a Full Version 1936-1999, Full Version 1913-1999 and if possible a Full Version 1900-1999. The Light followed by the Full 1936-1999 will be the first launched to match the release of Darkest Hour as close as we can.

Just found this mod, and will download and look it over during this weekend. The concept sounds really good, and with Darkest Hour even better (when it comes out). I'll provide feedback as I can find it, and congratulations on doing as well as you have.

Edit 1: Okay, I'm trying it but maybe have installed it wrong since it crashed when I went to the espionage screen and lingered there for a minute or two. I have PWTC as a checksum. I'm trying to reinstall it, but per your instructions seem to be missing a step as the Compendium 1.1 Mod is left out in the above post, except to say to run the batch file. At which point in the install process should we install it? On your first post in this thread you say to install it on arma 1.2, then continue on, and running the batch file twice. Is any of that still valid? Sorry for the confusion, just trying to clarify.

Concerning feedback about the game itself: Nationalist Spain is listed as a selectable country from the start, with no description, and predictably crashes if you try to load it. Also if you go into the end date selection, it shows 1940 as the first option and the rest of the options are "unknown string wanted" with the last one selected. I left that selection alone whenever starting.

Edit 2: Germany: Pictures and counters are beautiful. The starting "tip" screen has the SS symbol next to the number as in "tip number SS2". Techs: Germany has Early Naval Patrol Bombers and Improved Naval Bombers (skipping the unresearchable Basic Naval Bombers) researchable, nothing else can be researched. WAD? Also, the heading for Naval Patrol Craft has a typo, it says Partol instead. Land Doctrine has a GUI issue of Mobile Fire Support being set behind the tech above it (same is true for at least Night Strafing and Night Bombing on Air Doctrine screen. Secret Weapons screen has the word "satellite" mispelled on each of the techs associated with it. Some techs seem to be available like Bomb Vet. Initiative even when Battlefield Interdiction has not been researched yet. Button to show all movement arrows on the top bar between View Map and Intelligence Screen is missing. A lot of naval tech and armored tech (tanks and tank destroyers for instance) are not researchable which I'm guessing come available with doctrinal research. Also, there are a LOT of techs, which is a GREAT thing.

That's all I have time for now. This was with RDD 1.3.27. I'll try some gameplay next, unless I need to reinstall because I did it incorrectly or you put up a new version, or both.

@ mdlusk, First thanks for the feedback, these are the things i really need to know, same goes for qgbnorman.

First the Install. Earlier versions required Compendium 1.1 but it is not longer needed - only the batch file. The batch file should be included in RDD 1.3.27.

You need to make sure you have a backup, up-to-date version of armageddon. (this is just a good idea)

Just a quick note. I tried again all the steps you listed, and still got a checksum of PWTC, so I'm going to assume that's the correct one. As a sidenote, the Compendium batch file was not included in the RDD 1.3.27 file. I had to download the Compendium mod from you page and use the batch file from it (didn't install the rest of that mod though).

Edit: Maybe now there is a bit of difference because I did see the "show arrows" button. I never noticed that it disappeared when you go into any other part of the game but the map mode. Dumb me there. Playing again as Germany.

Economic Crisis of the 1930s does not have a picture. (Looks like many events don't have pictures yet). Side note: the sliders are hard to tell if they have been locked or not, they don't turn grey when locked. The selected map mode also is hard to read. The outlined borders for the popup alerts may be a bit distracting, perhaps make the outline (like the blue outline) about half as thick? Just my opinion. These may be part of your graphical improvements. Unless you intend it to be that way, the mod might be better entitled as "Road to Doomsday" instead of "Road to Doom's Day".

Compendium batch file is now included in the next game file Rar and also on uploaded to gamefront.

The sliders do turn grey- just maybe not enough. That and the popup graphics and a START on event pics will be worked on for a gfx patch upcoming.
 
Hi, could somebody help me? As germany by mid 1940 half of my leaders are dead. every time i attack 6 to 12 leaders die. Is there something i can do. i like this mod very much, but im about to give up on it

Download the latest version RDD 1.3.3 which is being uploaded now. The leader deaths have been scaled back.

If you are still having problems let me know and I will further adjust.

We hope that we have a stable working version of the mod now.
Ver 1.3.3 will be the foundation that we will expand from.
This will also be the last major update for a while.

Will still do hotfixes.

But need to concentrate on RDD Version 1.4 and RDD Version 1.4 for Darkest Hour.
We are of the Belief that Darkest Hour will take RDD to new higher level. And in turn RDD will enable Darkest Hour to really shine.

Because of size there are 2 GFX downloads. Instructions below.

You will need to download the graphics files because of model and tech changes.

IF you do not you will end up with things in the wrong place and lots of confusion.

The Good News is that future GFX updates will be smaller add-on patches for the foreseeable future.

There are also updated Event Id and Tech ID files.

If it were not for the playtesters on board I would be getting in input AT ALL.

I cannot make RDD better with out your help. I cannot playtest and work on the Mod at the same time, Just not enough hours in the day.

PLEASE more of letting us know about bugs, problems, improvements, wishes.

Look for and update patch Sunday night or Monday morning.
 
Moxs, I've just been playing for several hours yesterday in a tech run. With several factors in place to greatly speed up tech research (5 days for any tech), I was trying out the tech tree. I was playing as Germany. The tech up to about the 1950s level is fine and apparently is WAD (with a couple of exceptions). I did have the armor concentration event fire in about 1937 IIRC, which allowed me to go ahead and build armor and light armor divs from then. Then I ran into some tech loops that would completely stall research. Since I don't know for sure all the tech requirements for each tech, I'll just list the techs that had problems here if I don't know where the problem lies. Some of the problems I was able to identify, though. I did spend a while in Germany's event files to see if some events opened up research, but couldn't find anything. I briefly looked in the tech files, but I didn't have time to go through the prerequisites. I'll go through the different tech tabs.

In the Infantry tab: Improved Hospital can't be researched.

Armor tab: Landcruiser techs can't be researched (though all the other armor div techs worked), Improved Semi-Modern Anti-Tank Artillery (which hold back the tank destroyer line and anti-tank missile line from the secret weapon tab), and Improved Attack Helicopter brigade (which along with the anti-tank missile line holds back the uber-modern attack helicopter brigade from the SW tab)

Naval: Modern Light Carrier (may be a naval doctrine issue where there are a lot not able to research), Early SSN requires Advanced SSGN, and Basic SSGN requires Early SSN (the first of those requirements must be a bug, the second makes sense).

Aircraft: Improved Turbojet CAG is dependent of the SW tech Turbojet CAG which requires Semi-Modern American CAG. A bunch of other techs opened up when I removed a stumbling block from the SW tab that I'll mention shortly (which goes for some other tech tabs as well).

Industry: Plastics, Advanced Oil seems to require Economic Advisor (I did the Ideology Advisor), and Flying Bomb Development (I found a way to open this in the files but I just did a quick and dirty job by removing the requirements except for turbojet engine, there were two other requirements that I deleted)

Land Doctrine (there's a lot here, I'm just going to list those that do not require a tech from this tab, or their requirements on this tab are already researched): Unique Chasis Great Units, Precision Guided Munition, Independent Combined Forces Battleforce (requires Italian Doctrine, and is the only tech to require a specific national doctrine), Psychological War, Missiles Pakschrimm, Planned Escalation on Menace, Desert, Jungle, and Arctic Warfare only open with Great War Tradition and Modern Warfare techs but not Kampfgruppe tech, guerilla warfare techs understandably closed to all unless you research main Guerilla Warfare tech, Elastic Defense requires Modern Warfare but the Germans get a blueprint for it (most German players will likely research Kampfgruppe going the historical route, so I don't know if this is WAD or not), Advanced Chemical Warfare
(also Mobile Defense is misspelled as Mobil Defense)

Secret Weapons: Advanced Electronic Computer requires Basic Semiconductor but to open the semiconductor line you must have Advanced Electronic Computer, I took out that second requirement myself and found that this enabled a whole bunch of other techs on this tab and other tabs, since computers and semiconductors are required for a lot (that was the issue mentioned in the aircraft tab, but it stopped alot of other research as well). Other issues: Sonar/ASW line is blocked by not being able to research a couple of things in the Naval tab, Aggressive Biological Warfare can't be researched, the Ammo line is open but the HESH Ammo is crossed out and Improved Illuminating Ammo can't be researched, drop tanks line won't open which blocks the midair refueling line but all the requirements for the SW event to fire are in place may just be a matter of time, Turbojet CAG as mentioned is blocked by the Semi-Modern American CAG for some reason (yet it would block the Soviet and Euro CAGs in the aircraft tab), air cav line is blocked because the Improved Attack Helicopter brigade can't be researched in the Armor tab, napalm and cluster bomb lines blocked because Advanced Chemical Warfare can't be researched, Uber Modern Attack Helicopter and anti-tank missiles are mentioned earlier from the helicopter line and the anti-tank artillery line.

Naval Doctrine tab: There's a LOT here that can't be researched (over half of the upper three columns are unresearchable). When I play Germany, I don't go historical on this tab, I try to research as close to American doctrine as possible with an eye towards naval domination and amphibious warfare. It will be much easier to list what I can research (and have), so I'll do that. I researched Worldwide Ops, all of the Amphibious Warfare line, all of the Merchant Marine line, all of the Naval Infrastructure line, and all of the Fleet Logistics line. Under the Naval Superiority line, I can't get Standoff Strike, the rest of that line seems to make sense. Under Carrier Warfare, I was only able to get Fleet Auxiliary Carrier Doctrine, Basic Carrier Operations, Carrier Aviation Doctrine, Independent Carrier Doctrine (which redded out the Battlefleet Support Doctrine as intended), and Port Strike Tactics. Under the Anti-Sub Warfare line I was only able to research Convoy Creation, Anti-Commerce Warfare (which is misnamed, should be Anti-Sub Warfare), Coastal Convoy Defense, Coordinated ASW Attacks, Aerial Convoy Defense Doctrine, and Commerce Defense Doctrine. In the Anti-Commerce line, I could only research Fleet Auxiliary Submarine Doctrine, Merchant Raider Operations, Basic Submarine Tactics, Trade Interdiction Submarine Doctrine, Capital Ship Raiding, and Capital Ship Raiding Group Doctrine.

Air Doctrine tab: Unmanned Aircraft and RAA System can't be researched. I'm think the AC-47 Spooky line is probably supposed to be an American-only line (since that is an American aircraft name), and can't be researched, if it is not supposed to be American-only then the name may need to change to be generic.

I hope all this helps some. It would help if like the province ID, the tech ID of each tech, and of prerequisites could appear when you play the game, oh well. It just means there is a lot to go through in the files, especially trying to figure out prerequisites for some techs that need stuff from other tabs.
