Has anyone else noticed that the specific release date seems to have been changed on the King Arthur 2 pages on the Paradox website and Steam? I seem to remember that it was set to be the 10th (11th Australian time?) of this month but now the date is simply listed as January 2012 on Steam and quarter 1 2012 on the Paradox page.

I was hoping that Neocore could confirm what day the game is getting released or if the release date will potentially change.

Cheers

At this point, I'd suggest Paradox to delay the release until Neocore manages to iron out most of the issues with their game (optimisation and real compatibility with 64-bit systems). That is of course if they don't have a set release date, and if they have the money to hold off for a few more weeks.

I really don't want this game to go down the same way SOTS2 did. It shows so many great promises, and is in some ways already much more polished than many games at release, it would be a shame if it were bogged down by sub-par performances.

Amen. It was a such a pity to see Kerberos release SOTS2 in the state it was. Though as you imply and from what I've seen of the prologue of King Arthur 2, I think Neocore just has to worry about optimization and compatibility issues as opposed to the game being quite incomplete. It was quite a smart move to release the prologue since it was both an enticement to preorder and a good way to have a general test for release issues.

Whilst i agree they should help people getting the game to work properly, i don't agree that they should delay the release, as i would say a majority of people don't have these problems. If you don't have a problem you normally don't come onto the forums.

True. But I'm also wondering how many people have both pre-ordered and actually played the game. It'd be interesting to compare how many people have viewed the bug related threads versus how many have played the prologue so we can have some rough idea of what percentage of people who have played are affected by these issues.

This old chestnut again lol. Howz do you knowz this? There's a little thing on a topic that tracks views and posts. 90% of the time the views far outweigh the posts right? Who knows who's watching :p could be people in the good performance camp or those in the bad performance camp. Majoritys and minoritys, tomaaaaaaytos, tomarrrrrtos. It matters not. What matters is there's clearly a problem so they decided to move the release back. Which in my opinion is a good move because a problem is a problem no matter what camp your in.

Kudo's Neocore if you have indeed delayed release to look into this performance issue some of us are experiencing.

I'm normally not happy when devs delay their games, either. But if that means these performance-issues might end up getting fixed in a timely manner, (or at all.), then I'm a happy camper.

I agree it would be a shame if potential customers were scared off before the game was even released. I mean the game is a huge step up from KA1 so far from what i have seen. Lets hope they get it sorted asap and release :)

In 2012, we have patches through steam. So they can also release it tomorrow then patch it later when they'll fix it. So people able to make the game work without any issues won't have to wait for those with issues to be satisfied.

Yes, we saw that on Sword of Stars II. They released the game on Steam with alpha state (yes, not even in beta state). And look at the review scores of the game, it's metacritic score is 40... So do you buy a game with 40 metacritic score? I don't think so... So flawless late release is always good for devs/publishers and gamers.

Just thought I'll drop in and bring news about the release date: The new official release date is set to 27th January.

Some of us here are wondering/hoping if the reason you delayed the release might at least partially be due to the reported performance-issues.

Is there some truth to that?

Please?

There are a couple of configs you reported to experience slowdowns in the game, going below 20 FPS even on their suggested graphical settings. We just ordered some of these configs (including yours by the way) to test the game on them - many thanks for the system infos :) But that's not the only reason for the new date. The release date is set for delivering a superb game for you ;)

Game is already superb and so much fun than the first game and Creative Assembly's Total War games. :) But I hope you can fix these performance issues quickly, after that I think King Arthur 2 will be one of my favorite game of all time.
