Please in the name of saving me from myself, can someone do a mod that adds a real world clock to the game? It could sit in the unused space just to the left of the in game calendar and game speed icon.

I very much doubt this is possible. No code in-game that allows you to sync up with your computers clock.
You can type the command time into the in-game console to return the current system time. I know that's not exactly what you were looking for, but it's a workaround. I have no experience in modding the GUI.
