It's been too long since the last one, and I have all these pictures of dong-shaped aliens weighing down my hard drive that I need to use. I would host myself, but we all know how long Plank games end up being...

i would host but im a terrible narrator cant really keep games going it seems:(

I don't think a player-generated universe requires lore knowledge.

I would but there are two issues for me. First and foremost is my loathing of statistics, which space games tend to have in abundance, and secondly I won't be around for quite a while soon, so I wouldn't have the time to get one going.

Lol plank if it works as a consolation i am doing master of the galaxy 4 starting second week of january

And why not SW? It has literally tons of characters to use.

Who wants to be Kybo Ren and his pirate kingdom?

There are plenty of reasons why not to, but for the sake of not poking the hornet's nest I'll just say; not everyone who likes the sci-fi setting likes the SW universe, and not everyone is familiar enough with the lore to play a SW game for a long period of time, especially if it's not set in the movie timeframe. An original universe is where it's at.

But I want one nowwwwwwwww...

Star reach is impossible. It only existed as a drunken dream of Jayne Cobb. When he died in the last game he woke up on Serenity.

I actually have most of the lore and stuff for a sci fi setting written up. I was gonna use it for a story, but I didn't actually like the story I came up with and I soon came up with one I liked more. Anyway, it'd probably take a few months for me to create mechanics for it and turn it into a game. Also, your dong shaped alien pictures probably wouldn't be of much help Plank of Wood, since the setting takes place before contact with aliens and deals mostly with human vs. human conflict.

I would but asy past attempts have shown im a terribke game master with Ic and stuff

How much interest do you think there would be for this?

I am considering hosting a big Sci-Fi character based RPG in a realistic/fairly close future setting, most of the starting plot and supporting systems is ready..

Due to limited PM and private subforum/threads here on Paradox forums it would require signing up to another forum ( I am looking for a suitable one with good performance ) and it would probably be good to also have some chat system ( IRC or Skype for questions and coordination ).

There would be alot of freedom to describe character and interactions, but not so much freedom for the setting ( only humans to start off and restricted to certain key roles in certain rivaling Earth nations ).

Would people be ready to sign up on another forum and/ chat service to take part in this and is it too optimistic to think that 10+ from here might be interested of taking part? Would you be interested?

Those "let's make a dedicated forum for a 10 player game" things rarely turn out well, in my experience. It's just as easy to run it all from one thread on a forum that all the players go to by habit already.

Never wrote anything about a dedicated forum only thing.

Just that the Paradox forum can't provide things I really want to have to host a game like subforums/threads only certain alliances/players can see and ability to make several threads to focus on specific areas and not have a single 100-page thread where replies about diplomacy, events, discussions, story fluff, questions, rules, signups, reports, orders and so on all are garbled together in a big mess so no one can find anything.

If you look at some active games here you can see that they reach 100 pages in 3 weeks, that's over 5 pages per day.

The plan still is to have the main story thread here on the Paradox forums and make use of links and editing the OP, so any bigger updates are visible right away.
