At the moment renewables are for some reason noticable cheaper in maintainace for per kW/h than fossil fuels and theres no real reason not to just spam wind power and the water wind power instead of building fossil fuel generation. The construction costs are so low as well that its not really all too relevant(maybe the renewables are slightly costlier in construction? Just a guess for where they might have balanced them)

So whilst its true that irl costs for renewables are coming down, I don't think that it's reasonable game balance to make them cheaper than the fossil based generation, since the coal and oil plants already have other significant penalties in terms of pollution and the fact that it needs to be delivered fuels to function. So I'd love to have a mod that rebalances the power generation and costs to a level that makes sense ingame, so i'll actually have a reason to compromise between pollution and costs, and not just be lead to use renewables as an optimal play like it currently works.

Also on a related note I think that hydropower has too high maintainace and should instead maybe have an increased construction cost. Hydro is one(afaik) of the lower maintainace ways of producing power, since youre just using water flowing down without having to do anything but put turbines to generate electricity in between. Right now as it stands, hydro needs at least over 300mW to just break even with wind and the renewables, and since they can put so heavy costs in terms of water overflow and have limited placement and other issues, its usually not really meaningful to use them in any "optimal play"(i dont min max, so i still build them cause i think they're cool, but I'd love it if they had some actual benefit over simply renewable as well).

Also, as a last note, which i might as well include. For some interesting gameplay you might add nuclear power waste that has to be stored in long term facilities, and make the nuclear power itself cheaper, but have an longer term storage issue or costs if you try to "reform" the waste into less polluting waste that can be disposed of. But thats another mod by itself and not a part of my original request.

I agree with this 100%. I suggests you do what I did in the meantime, and add in new assets = basically copy over the existing power plants and change the build / maintenance / power generation. I've set the coal to be the cheapest at 5€/MW (in theory hydro can be much cheaper at max power gen.) with oil slightly more expensive and nuclear even more so. Renewables start at 10€/MW. You get pollution, need the resources for the facility to work but get lots of cheap power. Or you go for more costly wind/solar and need more of them to produce the same amount of power, but you don't have to worry about resources or pollution for the most part. I just do not know how to restrict those as the game does based on the milestones, so I have to watch out not to put down something I should not yet be able to :)
For hydro it would be cool if we were able to pay maintenance based on the size(length) of the dam (if possible), so that even smaller ones in the sub 300 MWs are worth the effort.

I sure hope in the near future we get someone who makes a total rebalance mod of power generation, from the pollution, through build and maintenance costs to price per MW.
