I've seen two different sets of requirements, and I can't figure out if I can even play this game. Compuexpert.com has it on sale for $10, BTW.

Here's one set:
Requirements : Windows 95/98/ME, Pentium II 266, 48MB RAM, 4X CDROM, DirectX compatible sound card, DirectX 7.0 compatible 3D graphics card, Mouse, Keyboard

Here's another:
Pentium 200Mhz with 64Mb RAM and 2 Mb of video RAM
Recomened hardware:
Pentium II 300Mhz, 128 Mb RAM and 2 Mb of video RAM.

I have a 266, 48MB or RAM, but no 3D card (I have 2MB of vid memory and 64-bit hardward accelerated 3D graphics). Any idea whether EU will work for me?

Howdy! I once asked a very similar question :)

I've got a P2 233, with a 4MB, 2D game card and 196 MB RAM and it runs fine but for occasional crashes to the desktop (a common problem - I save often). The one thing I'd worry about if I were you is your lack of RAM. I actually bought an extra 128MBs of RAM just so I could play the game (pretty inexpensive and very easy to install) and I might buy more! The game seems very RAM-intensive, there's a lot going on, especially later in the game (for example, I'm at 1660 in a Turkish Grand Campaign and the crashes are coming closer together then they did when I was at 1560). I think the consensus on these boards is that the more RAM you have the better (and also that there's some kind of memeory leak - whatever that may happen to be - that's inherent in the game).

Good luck (and as somebody who spent $40 on the game 2 weeks ago - plus $50 on RAM, I wholeheartedly recommend getting it at $10 and spending another $30-$50 on a RAM upgrade - the game is certainly worth it, crashes, addiction, lack of sleep, annoyed wife and all).

Cheers!

These are the requirments found in the slightly old EU FAQ :)
New one coming up soon.
