Daft question, but how do you increase the slots. I stopped one research, just to see if that would do it, but it did not work?

We have updated our Community Code of Conduct. Please read through the new rules for the forum that are an integral part of Paradox Interactive’s User Agreement.
Build menu, Research Facility. Each country can research (1+ number of research facilities) techs/designs at a time.
Be careful not to build more than you can maintain (or use) at one time. Even the USA, superpower that it is, doesn't really need more than 10ish facilities. Plus, research costs can increase noticeably as you build more facilities.
