What did people think of the public voting? Good thing, bad thing? Did you ever feel like there was no point in voting what you really wanted, because there was too much opposition? Did you ever feel like you would have preferred keeping your vote secret?

And should we keep public voting, do you think it'd be okay to have a Plot Card that allows people to vote privately?

I'd like to see private voting, because once 4 people failed a proposal, everyone started to.

I think it would be better if everyone had to vote privately, at least that way you couldn't rely on the other people to decide your vote for you.

I'm just not sure what private voting buys. I'm always going to publicly declare how I'm voting, and be suspicious of anyone else who is unwilling to do the same. :p

Ditto. Really.
You could bring it in as an option: Basically, the plotter trait in werewolf, except everyone has it: You *can* send in a PM with a vote different from what you're stating publicly, but you're not obliged to.
And of course, if you do use that option, be prepared to answer some hard questions.. ;-)

I think private voting would be preferable, since as this game has shown, public voting does not mean adherence to deadlines and on the last vote, I was able to look through the other votes and vote accordingly.

It's not a huge deal, but I think private votes would at least make it so one doesn't have to make what appears to be a meaningless vote on a mathematically decided team, or for that matter, it would avoid being able to use such a pre-determined outcome as an way to vote the opposite of one's desires for appearance's sake. I would imagine that the in person version of the game doesn't have the order in which people vote as an important factor. (It's done all at once, isn't it?)

But more than anything else, I think spies knowing one another really skews things in their favor. They have overall less work to do since they don't have to worry about figuring out who's who.

Cliges, really. Spies knowing each other is also in the base game. It's the entire premise of the thing. Without that, you might as well toss a random die to see who wins.

Yes, this. I want to see people voting for teams they support and voting against teams they don't. Not voting with certain people.

And public votes helps the spies more than the resistance. If spies can see other spies votes, they can all plan their votes accordingly, while it's harder to do that if the votes are private.

Except that there is nothing stopping people from stating their intended vote in public.

Even from mere discussion, I think it's pretty doable to figure out who'll vote which way.

But I do kinda see the point for teams where the voting might be close. In a way, Resistance players should be made aware that being too obvious about their vote intention can help give Spies cover.
