Resolution problem

I got a new computer recently, and with a much better video card, I thought I would try playing at a higher setting. So, I went to 1024x768 in the HOI Settings tool.

When I do so, the message bar at the bottom seems to be cut off on the left hand side, leading me to believe the left hand side in general is getting cut off.

My video card is an NVIDIA GeForce 4 MX 420

I tried downloading the latest drivers, which did not resolve the problem.

The game runs fine at 800x600 though...

No...same problem with the message window.

EDIT: Interestingly enough, I do *not* get this problem at the highest setting; 1280x1024

However, everything looks too tiny for my taste at that setting.

So only the middle setting does this...

I run in the 1024x768 setting as well and have not noticed this problem.

On the top of the screen do you see the Coal Icon on the top bar?

Yes I can see the Coal Icon, just not all of the message bar...

I took a screen cap, and actually, UNLIKE the game, the screen cap looks ok in 1024 mode...

Well the coal Icon is at the far left of the screen, so if you are missing anything it is not much.
What about changing the settings on your monitor. You know how you can move the image around and make it bigger or smaller. Maybe it is just off centred a little in that resolution.

Now why didn't I think of that??? DOH. I played around with the monitor settings, and with a little resizing and recentering it looks ok...

You might have to do that with all resolutions and refresh times.
Dropping in a new graphics card may give you refresh rates that you have never used before. Your monitor will probably need adjusting for each. Its a once only thing - you will have a "store" or similar button somewhere

Well, thanks for the help anyway...now that I'm no longer on 800x600 I can't believe I was able to play at that resolution!

Yup it makes a big difference, but the 5 zoom level help a bit.
