Hi there i wonder if someone can help.I had a new graphics card installed a Nvidia GeForce4 MX 420 at 64 RAM.On my computer after some problems i had to reset my computer again then reinstall everything including HOI.Then when i went to change the settings for HOI the resolution of the screen to 1024x 726 or something like that i then saw a file error come up that said file OLEAUT 32.DLL needs to be updated and it wont let me change the resolution for HOI i never had this problem before with it but i had the same error message when i tried to install Chessmaster 9000 when it came to the end of installation it came up with the same message so now im stuck i cant change the resolution for HOI im stuck at 640x480 i just wonder if theres a bright spark who knows what this file is and how i can deal with it or get round it thanks for any suggestions.
 
Ive just discovered ive got the same error message come up when i try to change EU2s resolution as well ive also got Directx 9.0 installed as well hope someone can help without me having to reset my computer again thanks.
 
It sounds like this is a Windows issue. Have you updated your version of 98 with the latest fixes from Microsoft. Use the Update feature, although if you havent used it till now you may have to update a whole of stuff as well. Which will probably take a while.

Id recommend that look at this which I got from MS site:

Rather than start uninstall and reinstalling just try to update your version of the oleaut32.dll file. Also, do a search of your hard drive and see how many files of that name you have.

What file location does the error return? What is the exact syntax of the error msg?
 
Hi there thanks for both of your help i see the point about the OLEAUT file from Microsoft.I found the Microsoft page about OLEAUT files then it gives a site to update it i cant find anything there to update from i dont know if 2Coats can have a look to see where im suppose to d/load the updated files one never hears these things until it hits you in the face so if im unable to d/load these files i done the Nvidia one but i havnt opened it and by the way it looks like its called Detonator i hope its the right one well i look forward to your replies thanks.
 
Hi there i went into the Microsoft updates page but i couldnt see anything about updating the OLEAUT32.DLL file.I searched the files and found them mention on the Wins System and it just mentions it for HOI and EU2 but i couldnt find the files in Wins Explorer or the games i cant understand why this has started now and not before when i never bothered to update Windows thanks for any help.
 
Yeah the detonator drivers are for Nvidia cards. I have one: MSI 4400 VTD @ 256MB

Can I suggest you go to google.com and enter the words from your msg and see what comes up. Have a read and come back here if you have any question.
 
Hi there i d/loaded the new OLEAUT32.DLL file but i was unable to unzip it it said something like i could not unzip while OLEAUT32.DLL is being used by another process.The thing is i cant find the file on the Win/sys when i try and look for it well me know what you think thanks.
