Text 7:Going On(1334 - 1341)
Bayezid II was a competent diplomat and he managed with his silk tongue to decrease Rum's infamy among the world. He also tried expanding the army but that proved far too costly for the Sultanate and as such he later disbanded the new regiments. He also noticed that the Greeks in Thrace were always sailing to different places and tried to declare war at the moment they were the farthest away so that troops from the Sultanate could march to the Capital, but to no avail, since those ships never really left the Bosporus. However, grim news arrived to the Sultan's ears,as the greeks from the Metropolis of Thessaloniki had successfully occupied and annexed Adana. This gave many chances for expansion to the Sultan, so he declared war. While technically the enemy alliance had much more troops than Rum, most of these troops were in Minsk.

After war was declared, the armies of the Sultan immediatly rushed to Adana and in the 1st September of 1336 the province was successfully occupied. As a result, Bayezid II gained fame and legitimacy among the Nobles of the realm and popularity among the soldiers. After the raids, the armies were really eager to go on and bring the fight to the Greek mainland, but such thing could not happen because of the power that the Thessalonician navy had mustered over the previous years of peace and inactivity. The Sultanate would have to wait. Not long however, since the Thessalonicians were kind enough to send troops to siege Izmir. Such a move was stupid, as they had no way of retreating from the Turkish mainland, and the armies were completly annilihated.

The Azeri tribes were not happy over their previous defeats from the Sultanate and seeing how it was in a moment of weakness and distress, it decided to launch attacks and raids along it's border with Rum. While the Azeri armies were defeated numberous times and were hunted down into the Azeri hinterland itself, because of bad co-ordination, the province of Van had gone to the hands of the Nomad tribes. While he captured it, and signed white peace treaties with many enemy states in Russia, he could not waste any more time and manpower getting the province back, since it was basically worthless. He decided to let the Azeri tribes keep it and instead shift his focus to the West, where the Greeks had captured Bursa and had moved on to Izmir.

After days of fighting, the Greek armies were defeated and retreated to Bursa, where they were also defeated. The emirs of Candar and Karaman tried to move onto the Greek mainland and bring the fight to them, only to be blocked by the Greek fleet. During the war and also before the war many policies were changed and were mostly accepted by the people, showing the brilliance of the government at the time. It was decided that the money would be invested in the government. In order to ensure stability in such times, the Sultan decided to establish Church Attendance Days to emphasize on the religious values of Islam.
