One consequence of having lots of medium-sized powers in Abe is that a lot of them get killed off. This is fine, but often they get replaced by countries which don't have any events, cores, leaders etc because they're 'minors'. So what we could have is an event file with a series of 'Crown of France'-style events to allow old powers to resurface. Here are some obvious ones, off the top of my head:

Krete would become Byzantium in the absence of the original Byzantium

Any Iberian or Moorish Muslim country, in particular Seville, Granada and Morocco, can become Cordoba if they own Toledo, Andalusia and Granada

If Brittany proper is destroyed, the Breton kings would continue the fight from Wessex or Normandy

If Scotland proper is destroyed, the Scottish kings would continue the fight from York

Similarly for Swabia and Bavaria, with their numerous vassals

Various city-states could reestablish the Hanseatic League

Any Sunni Arabian country could become the new Caliphate if it gets powerful enough

Naples could become Sicily

A Muslim Nubia could become Egypt

Any more ideas?

Upon such an reintroduction of power along the lines of crusader kings all of the former loyal provinces, or half, should rejoin the newly formed country if you wish for this approach to be successful

Great idea, Incompetant.

However, forced secession is pretty harsh, tarakan. I would suggest instead that there would be RR increases in those provinces for a period of about 10 years.

And remember that by inheriting that country tag they get their cores and that will encourage those ai countries to go for those old parts of their country.

Lot's of work to be done for this to be acheived, but at least we have it on our horizon.
