There are no retinues in the mod for two reasons.
1) In lore there are no real standing armies
2) If we enabled retinues then even the ai wouldn't be able to use them if you didn't have the DLC not to mention trying to find a way to balance them as in vanilla they are often op

Yes sorry I know, my bad, it has been a while since I last played the mod.

Another question, the game seems to be running slower now than in earlier versions, is this because of the Horse Lords dlc?
- My specs are a Intel Core i5 processor with 3.4 ghz, gtx 760 and 8 gb ram, I am running the game on Windows 10 64 bit .
Now there is even lag sometimes at full speed, whereas before the game just flew through the years :)

Does anyone know?

Because there is so much extra stuff in the mod that it is like tunning 10 vanilla CK2 at the same time.

Oh boy is that a fact. I'm only around 20 years into my Blackfyre game and it runs like a vanilla game that's been running for centuries.

Still enjoying it though.
