Retrofitting ships?

Hey, I was thinking about how the naval techs in this game work, and how once you build a ship it can never be upgraded. Well, what if there were some option to retrofit/modernize a ship? This could make the ship unusable for a while and add it to the production screen, and upgrade it to the most modern tech that you have for that type of ship. Anyone agree? Doesthis even sound remotely realistic? P.S. I also posted this in the enhancement suggestions forum.
 
The naval brigades can be upgraded but theres only so far IRL you can retrofit a ship.
 
Well, what I was thinking was that you would have to pay for each level that you upgraded it, and after 2 or so the cost would become more than that of a new ship.
 
I would recommend that you post this request in the Darkest Hour/Iron Cross/AOD forums as there will be no new development on HOI2/HOI2DD or HOI2Arma.

Also in my opinion... the installing/upgrading of Brigades on ships available in Arma simulates exactly what you are requesting and historically accurate.
 
Thanks, I don't have Arma so I didn't know exactly how it worked.
