Seriously, companies in 2019/2020 that don't include ultra-wide screen resolutions by default look like clown-shoes. I'm talking even in beta / early access - it's expected behavior for you to support common resolutions.
Ultrawide is not 'common'
https://store.steampowered.com/hwsurvey
1080p - 69.27%
1440p - 6.74%
4k - 1.51%
Everything else is functionally rounding errors. There are more people running at 4:3 resolutions like 1600x900 than there are people with ultra wide screens. Aka if you're going to spend resources on supporting non 16:9 aspect ratio montiors, it makes way more sense to support
1440x900 - 2.46%
1600x900 - 2.3%
1680x1050 - 1.74%
Than ultra wides which 'at best' are
3440x1440 - 0.54%
2560x1080 - 1.02%
Ultrawides are simply not common. and its easier to target the 16:9 ratio monitors which will hit the vast majority of users who have monitor sizes above 1080p. Since the aspect ratio doesnt change, supportiing 16:9 ratios means UI scaling is easier to support for 1440p and 4k.
edit: Oh if you're gonna 'disagree' then well you're gonna have to come up wiht a reason to dump time/resources/money into supporting potentially 1.5% of users, and then tell me what features you want cut for the other 98.5% of people.
