A small mod to fix up the terrain problems in the eastern part of the vanilla map, namely:

1) Positioning of the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers
2) Adding in the Zagros Mountains

Thanks to Lofman for providing the topology work and river placement work.

WARNING: This mod cannot be run purely from a mod directory. It will involve the alteration of your game files. Please make sure you backup your Europa Universalis directory before installing it. Follow the instructions carefully and it will all be ok.

BtroB Map Mini Mod: Not working - removed for further testing
New colormap_hires.bmp: http://www.filefactory.com/file/b0194c5/n/colormap_hires.bmp
Vanilla Province Textures: Will be uploaded later
Epigoni Mod 1.32b Province Textures: http://www.filefront.com/16457469/province_textures%20EM1.32b%20+%20RBMM.rar

New terrain map (with newly placed rivers, old riverbeds gone and Zagros Mountains in place):

How did I alter the colormap_hires ?

1) I tried compiling the textures on my new PC for hours (Vista64,i7.950) but I kept getting the blue provinces problem.

2) Solution:
I know I had extended the colormap_hires.bmp successfully in the past with Rome 1.3. So I went back to my old computer and it ran without issue. The old computer I got it to work on is an XP system with an NVidia graphics card and I used EUR (no VV) unpatched.

Also you need to follow these instructions:
http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/showthread.php?t=352269
Note: I cant get it to run purely from the mod directory.

Looks great, I can't wait to download

Great work! Seamless I would say :)

Thanks.

Its my first real attempt at anything like this. I would like the mountains to be a bit more of a red-brown. Perhaps I can grab that area and change the hue or something. Also all of those palm trees look a bit odd up in the mountains. I think I can fix that pretty easily.

Now I just have to figure out how to upload this and then how people can instal it without destroying their vanilla files, since I cant figure out how to run it directly from the mod directory.

Anyone got any suggestions ?

Ok, finally managed to upload the big file. There are two download links in post #1. Remember:

a) Backup your Rome directory; and
b) Follow the instructions.

Thanks again to Lofman for his topology and rivers.

EDIT: Removed the mod but left behind the colormap_hires.bmp file for those who are keen. Its not installing easily so I will have to look at this again another day.

Excellent work! Is there any chance that the mesopamian/babylonian plain could become a bit more green? It was part of the Fertile Crescent after all, and I doubt that ancient peoples fought over sand when they attacked Babylon and wichever power ruled it.
