I've been playing CORE 0.25, and have built a level 3 rocket research facility in Breslau by the beginning of 1938 - while playing as Germany, of course. This is because the official booklet states that you have to build at least one rocket research station and keep on improving it in order to speed up rocket research. What I want to know is whether it's really worth my while to build yet another rocket base and/or add to my current rocket facility in Breslau?

Secondly, I vaguely recall reading somewhere that a radar station located in a coastal province will remove the fog of war from the sea, but not necessarily reveal any enemy ships in that sea, but I have no idea of the range of radar-stations on land, or how much the range might be increased by technology research. Or is the range of radar-stations normally confined to that one province it's in or the adjoining sea-area, if there is one?

Building more than 1 rocket site is pointless, game wise - the game only uses the bonus from your largest site, in any case. So just build up the one site. You don't actually NEED a test site to research the rocketry techs - it just helps speed them up a bit.

Hi,

For that matter, I don't think you can build a second site. IIRC once you have one of them you lose the option to place them anywhere else.

Yep... Same goes for nuclear reactors by the way. Once you've placed the first one the others can only be built in the same province.

Thanks for the info. The HOI2 wiki did mention that 3 was enough, and that more than 5 had too few benefits re speeding up rocket research to matter. I think I'll stick to the level 3 rocket facility. I'm glad that the game has disabled the setting up of alternate rocket facilities, since doing so doesn't add to any bonuses for research. This makes sense historically, as rocket and nuclear research facilities were mainly focused on one particular area, such as Los Alamos or Peenemuende.

Dont built any more than 10 rocket or nuckear facilities. In my lastest DD Game (too much IC for the mp) I built an 11th rocket site and wasn´t able to place it. That meant a complex savegame editing.

The 11th is useless and costs TC if its not placeable.

According to the HOI2 Wiki, the greatest beenfit is if you own a level-3 rocket-base. After that benefits are greatly reduced until, at level 5, the difference is no more than day or so. After that, presumably the benefits are even more negligible. The only thing that concerns me is whether the level of rocket-bases corresponds with the number of V1/V2 rockets I am allowed to manufacture at one time.

The rocket bases don't affect the quantity of rockets you can build at one time. The only restriction is your IC, etc.

I've never built a rocket base but I've built many ICBM's.
