I have followed all the instructions I've come across online. I have tried for literally hours to make this work. Do I need the gallant trait? Is that the problem? I'm so frustrated smh. I know that's a lot but I've become emotionally invested in my connacht brogue lol.

I have chivalry and am not choosing soul mate.

You need a culture with chivalry tradition to get renown from romance. The only cultures with that at game start are French, Occitan and Castilian.

Do I need gallant to make the romancing renown bonus work? Cause it doesn't and no where is it explained. Please help me. I'm about to throw out about about 300 hours of work here. I'd be heartbroken lol
Nope, you just need the Chivalry tradition. :)

In that case it's almost certainly a mod. Do you have any mods running?
Thank you so much for helping me work through this. I can't tell you how much I appreciate it. I have a one year old son so i have like a few hours a week of quiet time and this is what I do with it. I know it's silly that it's this important to me but if you don't know already you will one day lol

Nope it's on ps5
Hmm, ok, I don't know anything about PS5 but from your statement I am guessing that there are no mods there?

One of the ladies only had a 45% success chance could that be why? I mean I succeeded but still
It doesn't matter. As long as you succeed you should get the Renown boost.

No problem, my friend! :) I do not yet have children, but look forward to them with a mix of excitement and horror. :D

I myself am a "Renown hound" and have gotten Chivalry in the past just for the Renown boost, so I feel your pain, heh.

I checked the script files, and here is what it says in the scheme itself:
Code:
		if = {
			limit = {
				OR = {
					scope:court_outcome = flag:success_soulmate
					scope:court_outcome = flag:success_kiss
				}
				culture = {
					has_cultural_parameter = romance_scheme_bonuses
				}
				exists = dynasty
			}
			dynasty = {
				add_dynasty_prestige = minor_dynasty_prestige_gain
			}
		}

Chivalry definitely has the "romance_scheme_bonuses" parameter:
Code:
	parameters = {
		can_use_sparring_duel = yes
		romance_scheme_bonuses = yes
		romance_scheme_penalty = yes
		ai_romance_scheme_increase = yes
		poet_trait_romance_bonuses = yes
		can_host_joust_contests = yes
	}

("dynasty_prestige" is the script name for Renown.)

So you should get the Renown regardless of whether which outcome you choose and what your success chance is, as long as the scheme actually succeeds and you get the choice between being soulmates or just a kiss.

One potential issue I can think of, which confused me in the past, is if you adopted the Chivalry tradition yourself into your culture. Did you do this? If you did, there's a waiting period after you take the decision until the tradition is established. I missed this the first time around, because it wasn't clearly explained (or maybe I was just too excited at the prospect of more Renown and didn't read through things properly, heh :) ).

Did you adopt the tradition yourself? If you click on your culture and go to the traditions, you should be able to see if it's fully incorporated or not. If it's not, then there should be a legend over it saying how long is left until it's established. This works like an either/or - until the tradition is established it's as if your culture didn't have it at all, then once it's established it kicks in fully from day one.

I'm out of connacht as any proud Irishman should be lol. So I'm pretty sure it comes with that culture by itself. It's so wierd it's just not working even though I seem to meet all the requirements. Yea I'm pretty sure consoles don't support mods. I have an Alienware but the plug frayed over time so I have to use the ps5. Pretty sure I wouldn't be having this problem on that glorious piece of technology.

Maybe I should report the problem on the ps5 to the devs?

gallant only makes your 'target' like you more if his/her sexuality favors you. For example a heterosexual female gets +20 relation with your male toon (the sexual favor of the hunter doesn't matter, you still get the +20 attraction modifier from the target)

as for the renown: it does work for me ... i almost always start custom games with occitan toons because of the renown boost it can give you. And it works without being gallant

Then I think we may have found the issue: the Irish don't have the Chivalry tradition.

The only cultures that come with Chivalry from the beginning are French, Occitan, Castilian, Portuguese, and English. All other cultures need to add it.

Hmmm ok. That's odd because it let's me select it as an option. Which is a bit misleading. I've been on it for 24 years now. So has it just been a wasted quarter century? One would think it would've added itself by now.
Wait, I'm confused... First you wrote that you thought the culture had it from the start, and now you say you selected it as an option?

If you click the culture you can see a list of the traditions if you scroll down. You can see if Chivalry is there, and as I described above, if it is being established or is already established. Can you send us a screenshot of this?

(If you can't easily take a screenshot on a console, feel free to just snap the screen with your phone and upload the photo. :) )

I was confused between the chivalry cultural tradition and the chivalry martial focus so I switched to France and check these out
