Chivalry definitely has the "romance_scheme_bonuses" parameter:

So you should get the Renown regardless of whether which outcome you choose and what your success chance is, as long as the scheme actually succeeds and you get the choice between being soulmates or just a kiss.
One potential issue I can think of, which confused me in the past, is if you adopted the Chivalry tradition yourself into your culture. Did you do this? If you did, there's a waiting period after you take the decision until the tradition is established. I missed this the first time around, because it wasn't clearly explained (or maybe I was just too excited at the prospect of more Renown and didn't read through things properly, heh
).
Did you adopt the tradition yourself? If you click on your culture and go to the traditions, you should be able to see if it's fully incorporated or not. If it's not, then there should be a legend over it saying how long is left until it's established. This works like an either/or - until the tradition is established it's as if your culture didn't have it at all, then once it's established it kicks in fully from day one.
