Why not both? It was done in Rome, albiet pretty simplistically.

No it wasn't. We're talking 600-800 years before the start of EU: Rome

So...what news? Any talk of a possible Rome II game?

I am suspicious of that Project Augustus they are working on.

I'd love to see a Rome II built on the CK2 framework. ...

I agree with you. Rome II would be a very welcome sight.
what I am hoping for is CK2 to expand all the way down to the Post-Roman Empire (circa. 5th Century), and to have Rome II brought in. Then we can begin playing around 3rd c. BC and work our way up through modern times.

:hint: :hint:

Yup, because dinastic interfighting was such an important thing in the frankish tribes...

I could imagine this thread will get much more excited pretty soonish...

Well, one thing to note is that during the CK2:Way of Life portion of the stream today, there was a dev wearing a shirt with "Rome II" on it. So my guess is a announcement coming soon.

Nah, they also wore that during the CM announcement as well as a ship named Rome II in HOIV Dev Diary.

Since august they have had a general Rome II theme at PDS, in all of their game development. While, of course, continuously stating that the game is not in developmemt or production or planned in the near future.

Would be quite a troll from Paradox to finish the game in secret while constantly telling people it doesn't come and then one day say "hey, we'll release Rome II tomorrow". :D

That would be trolly and funny, but not so good from a marketing point of view. :p Actually that makes me think of how much they gain on doing tons of DLC, video and continous info before a game releases.
