Rome is relatively stable in the early game, but later on it crashes to desktop in average every 30 minutes. My save games become corrupt, my autosave won't work.

I just want to say I hope you haven't finished working on this game. In it's current state it is half finished. It is so unstable and save game corrupting that I would say it is nearly unplayable at the point of time I am now. year 600 or so that is.

I could give a more detailed bug report but frankly I suspect you allready know about most of these bugs.

Do a better job please!

I personally have never had any of the problems you've encountered. Maybe the odd CTD every now and then, but I've never had a corrupt save game or autosave failure.

Maybe it's worth running a few maintenance programs on your PC (e.g. Defrag, hard drive cleaners, virus checks, malware checks, etc.) and trying again.

I'd highly reccommend uploading your saved games or bug reports. The only way Paradox can iron out problems is by reviewing feedback from their players.

Well, thing is I've got eu3, hearth of iron 2 and victoria revolutions and I don't have anything close to this much problem with any of them. And yes, I've spent even more time playing these games compared to this. Sorta makes me think it is something wrong with Rome rather than (just) my computer.

That other games work well does in no way imply that the problem can't be with your computer. Different games interact with your computer in different ways.

I'll admit that Rome does have some bugs, but I think the problems you're having seem fairly rare (at least amongst members of this forum). If I were you, I'd post your saved games, DXDiag and any other error messages in the tech support forum so that tech expert members of the forum can help you out. It may just be a simple fix and then you can get on with playing Rome.

Have you patched the game up to the latest (beta) version? If not, this could possibly give you a quick and easy fix.

Also, I'd reccommend registering your other Paradox games. This way, you can experience all the forums. :)

I also had plenty of corrupted file games on DIFERENT computers... Although it seemed to happen more on Vista... Might be just coincidence, though.

I may have spoke too soon! I'm now having frequent CTD after a few days playing.

How would I know if I have a corrupt saved game?

Please run DXDIAG, Save All Info, and post dxdiag.txt in the Tech Support forum (first delete everything after the Sound Devices section so it will fit). Also post your Rome/settings.txt and Rome/logs/system.log files. Note that if you use Vista or Win7 and have installed the game in the suggested folder c:\Program Files\Paradox Interactive\Rome\, the active versions of these last two files will have been redirected to a non-system directory, like c:\users\[name]\appdata\local\virtualstore\Program Files\Paradox Interactive\Rome\. You may have to search your C: drive for them.

I've just got a game that freezes. The autosave and old autosave also freeze. I can't recall getting that with any other game, certainly not for a few years. I've reached about 505 AUC, that's as far as I 've got in a game so far, so I'm not impressed.

This is with 2.2, or the 2.31 beta patch? Have you checked for the NoCultureGroup bug?

Have you had this problem in multiple campaigns?

I reported a similar experience (the game becoming extremely unstable about 25-30 years into the campaign) in the tech support forum, and it was sadly not possible to pinpoint the cause. Strangely later campaigns worked went without crashes without me changing anything.
