Hey, I've lurked but never posted. I hope I'm doing this right.

I've taken a fresh 2.2, GC game with Rome to year 604 and now it crashes on Jan 4th every time I load the game up. I searched the savegame for the stickied "noculturegroup" problem but didn't find anything.

The game had been crashing on specific dates in the previous years, but loading from the autosaves delayed whatever the problem is.

Please try deleting the files only in the Rome /map/cache/ folder. If that doesn't help:

Please run DXDIAG, Save All Info, and post dxdiag.txt here (first delete everything after the Sound Devices section so it will fit). Also post your Rome/settings.txt and Rome/logs/system.log files. Note that if you use Vista and have installed the game in the suggested folder c:\Program Files\Paradox Interactive\Rome\, the active versions of these last two files will have been redirected by Vista to a non-system directory, like c:\Users\[name]\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\Paradox Interactive\Europa Universalis - Rome\, where [name] is your Vista user name. You may have to search your C: drive for them.

Here are the system files. I deleted the map/cache files, but it still crashes on Jan 4.

Changed system.log to a .txt so I could upload it. Contents are identical.

Updated the video driver and still got the crash. I'm sure there's no "ARMY_NAME_noculturegroup" entries in the savegame. I've searched several times and tried to catch myself making typos, using wrong case, etc. I've no idea what it could be.

Try editing your settings.txt and make the following changes:

x=1024

y=768

fullScreen=no

master_volume=-1

renderTrees=no
and see if that makes any difference. Also you could post your save game here and see if others get the same problem with it.

You could post it on any file hosting site, such as filedropper, and post a link to that here.

OK, good. Indeed it does not have the noculturegroup problem. I'd be grateful if someone could test it to see if they get the same problem with your save game file, thanks all.
